Gavin Williamson knighthood????

Just how, why, and what the hell kind of insanity is this?
How can someone with such a disastrous track record.....

It is a slap in the face for teachers across the country who had to mop up the results of his extreme incompetence, while being treated by him with complete contempt.

It is an insult to any student who was caught up in the exam grade algorithm scandal, some of whom lost university places as result.

It is a kick in the teeth for any child affected by his mismanagement of schools during covid, whether through opening them in an unsafe manner, closing them in a chaotic fashion, not having a plan in place for when exams were cancelled again, or the total lack of leadership around remote education provision.

It makes a mockery of the honours system which allows the Prime Minister to bribe people who have secrets he'd rather they didn't reveal, people who were sacked from government for leaking state secrets, so can hold no claim to service for country, or a job well done.

Shame on this government.

Makes an absolute mockery of the honours system which has long been in need of a MAJOR overhaul

He hasn't done anything worthwhile, or even well, that I can see. What on earth does he deserve a knighthood for? He must have something on Boris, there's no other answer.

Chief Whip's know things about their party MPs. A former Chief Whip will know some things that some people may not want to be repeated in public. One of those people may be someone with blonde hair.

Of course any suggestion that the knighthood is connected with this would be denied.

Whatever did he do to deserve it!? He was pretty much absent during lockdowns and school closures, and definitely did not advocate for our children, or for their teachers.

It’s crazy - he was dreadful. But I don’t get it anyway - even if he had been ok, why would he get a knighthood for just doing his job?

Yes I was shocked by this too. An appalling track record in everything he's ever touched, but my particular hatred is borne out of the way education was mishandled during the pandemic. The infamous algorithm, that he clung to until forced to capitulate, the lack of promised laptops for home learners, the daily directives to schools, everything.
