Julie Burchill article

OP posts:
OhWhyNot · 28/02/2022 19:12

She certainly does

LottyD32 · 28/02/2022 19:15

No, she's not wrong. I can't stand snowflake culture.

Hoardasurass · 28/02/2022 19:50

What do you expect from the generation that thinks words are "literal violence "

SlashBeef · 28/02/2022 19:53

She's spot on. People get themselves in such a state, have absolutely no resilience and then wonder why their kids are anxious wrecks.

PotatoGoblins · 28/02/2022 19:55

I detect no lies.

loislovesstewie · 28/02/2022 20:07

She does. Why is everyone 'triggered' now?

Georgeskitchen · 28/02/2022 20:13

I love Julie Burchill. She always gets it spot on 😀

Wizzbangfizz · 28/02/2022 20:16

100% you only have to glance at some of the hysterical threads on here in recent days.

Hoardasurass · 28/02/2022 20:16

I'd love to hear from the 3 people who disagree with the article to tell us why its all about them and not the Ukrainian people

Susu49 · 28/02/2022 20:19

I don't.
VelvetChairGirl · 28/02/2022 20:26

I do wonder about the posters here, going on about prepping, pissing themselves about war and listening to Ukrainian music to show solidarity.

presumably they are all mothers so what the bloody hell do their kids think about their behaviour, it cant be limited to here, it must seep into daily life.

Associatepeggy · 28/02/2022 20:33

How have 15% voted yabu. But not been able to post an actual reason for thinking that way? 😕

ParalysisByAnalysis · 28/02/2022 20:40

👏🏻

ButtockUp · 28/02/2022 20:43

I agree. I really wonder how we'd cope if ever our country got directly involved.
Just how the anti maskers will cope with compulsory gas masks would a fantastic MN thread.

ShirleyPhallus · 28/02/2022 20:44

Cannot agree with her any more

The threads on here are driving me bananas. All this angst and hysteria about something which is very very very unlikely to happen.

The one where someone said she wasn’t even going to make plans for next week as there was no point cos we’d all be dead Confused

But then, you only have to look at old threads saying “should I go to London in case I get caught in a terror attack” to see that MNers just love to centre themselves in whatever bit of drama / disaster is going on at that moment

TimeToMakeACupofTea · 28/02/2022 20:50

She’s absolutely bang on, and it’s an entertaining read.

OhWhyNot · 28/02/2022 20:53

The I’m so heartbroken statements are ridiculous

Unless personally involved no you are not sad yes anxious maybe but heartbroken oh please 🙄 mothers sisters wives daughters girlfriends young sons friends are having to say goodbye to the men in their life not knowing when they will see them and if they will see them thousands are just west to be safe with no idea where they are going or when they will reach a safe place that’s heartbreaking not imagining how difficult it must be that you make yourself cry

Cocomarine · 28/02/2022 20:55

Thank you, I enjoyed that!

Joolsin · 28/02/2022 21:04

Excellent article. I completely agree with everything she said, particularly about celebs trying to make it all about them.

Nat3kids · 28/02/2022 21:08

I would say YABU because the people she describes in her article bear no resemblance to anyone I’ve met in real life.

SlashBeef · 28/02/2022 21:17

Can you imagine?! You get home from school and your mother is inconsolable, wailing along to Ukrainian music, bulk ordering tinned goods and drawing up plans for an Anderson shelter.
OneTC · 28/02/2022 21:19

she sounds, might I say, triggered by it all

Bootskates · 28/02/2022 21:21

I would say YABU because the people she describes in her article bear no resemblance to anyone I’ve met in real life

I agree with this. Social media aside, people are just getting on with it. Work, school, taking your kid to football practice etc. Nobody I have met has seemed hysterical

OneTC · 28/02/2022 21:23

She's also a fucking racist internet troll so I do tend to look at whatever she whines about from that perspective

AnneElliott · 28/02/2022 21:25

I think the people she's referencing are on social media. No-one I know in real life is like that - people are getting on with their own lives.

But yes social media seems to bring out the self absorbed - MN is the same. Lots of hysteria about all sorts of every day issues that regular people just deal with.
