To ask how to get rid of gin headache/hangover

User112 · 20/02/2022 20:36

I didn’t drink in the last 5 years. I met a friend today I had some gin. I’m back at my hotel now, and I have a pounding headache. I’m attending a work related conference tomorrow morning and can’t have a hangover or shit because I’m presenting.
I know, I shouldn’t have gotten drunk, but wtf. I only had 2 rounds. Just very little gin with tonic.

What can I do now - to not have this headache or hangover tomorrow Blush
How much water should I drink? Shall I take ibuprofen?

Have you not heard of painkillers? They're an amazing invention.

FFS.

BIWI · 20/02/2022 20:38

What do you have to hand? Ibuprofen, paracetamol, aspirin will all do the job. Plenty of water.

It's not even 9pm yet so you have around 12 hours before you need to be at work.

DetailMouse · 20/02/2022 20:40

Drink some water, go to bed, it will be gone by morning

DogsAndGin · 20/02/2022 20:40

Water water water

TheFuckingDogs · 20/02/2022 20:41

Solpadeine max strength soluble ones in a pint of good tap water.
Then another pint of tap water and a nytol one a night (half a tablet if you’re not used to them) and you’ll be right as rain.
No more booze obvs 😊

Violetmo0n · 20/02/2022 20:41

Painkillers
Water, pint before bed. Keep some at side of the bed for through the night.
Shower before sleep also.
You'll probs sleep it off now as it's early.

Once your up, get straight up, painkillers even if you don't feel it straight away. Back in the shower, coffee, ready and out.

My experience, I need to be up and out 🤣

Horological · 20/02/2022 20:41

Paracetemol
Lots of water
Banana
A proper meal which includes carbs and as little salt as possible

TheFuckingDogs · 20/02/2022 20:43

Ooh yes more water by the bed and a good chunk of decent non salty food

User112 · 20/02/2022 20:50

I have ibuprofen. Is that good enough or does it have to be paracetemol? Take one now or tomorrow or both?
I’m drinking water, is 500ml enough before bed now? I drank 200 ml already.

Meal, I’m not hungry at all but I have a supermarket sandwich. Is that ok or should I order something with rice.
I’m panicking because I’m presenting first in the conference tomorrow. Didn’t realise just 2 rounds will knock me out like this Blush

Regardless of what you drank, you have a headache because you are dehydrated (this is what alcohol does to you) do whatever you would normally do when you have a headache and are dehydrated.
There is no universal magic pill combo for a hangover.

Livvygator · 20/02/2022 20:54

Have something to eat and drink some water and you will be fine in the morning xx

DrManhattan · 20/02/2022 20:54

You will be fine. Lessons learned.

thelastgreatdynasty · 20/02/2022 20:55

Are you sure you're not just ill?
Lucozade sport and lots of water to rehydrate you. Salty food is fine because it will help you replace lost electrolytes.
Take some painkillers ie paracetamol.

Violetmo0n · 20/02/2022 20:55

I would take painkillers now and in the morning.
You sometimes wake up and think Christ knows fresh then hits you an hour later.

Ballcactus · 20/02/2022 20:57

Sleep it off you’ll be grand. Take two painkillers in the morning if you still have a bad head. This is what they call “hang-xiety”

Nadjahomesoil · 20/02/2022 21:00

Take 2 ibuprofen now and chug 2 pints of water.

Order a salty carby meal in like fish and chips.

You'll be fine.

Inastatus · 20/02/2022 21:03

I’m sure you’ll be fine by the morning.

CaribouCarafe · 20/02/2022 21:04

Painkiller (any will do), water, something salty and fatty to eat and plenty of sleep should sort you out. You'll be fine by the presentation Smile

BIWI · 20/02/2022 21:04

@Livvygator

Yes.

AlmostAJillSandwich · 20/02/2022 21:06

Well, one option is keep drinking. Stay drunk, no hangover Grin

Serious answer though, you could try dioralyte, its for rehydration and re balances electrolytes, not just good for when kids get an off tummy/sick.

Honestly, you’ve had two drinks and have a bit of a headache. It’s nothing. I’m going to assume you’re getting yourself into a state because you’re nervous about tomorrow but it’s only 9pm, you’ll be fine. It’s not like you’ve gone on a massive bender. Have a glass of water and go to bed.

ButtockUp · 20/02/2022 21:09

Years ago I'd happily knock back a few Pimm's.
Can't even take a few sips now.

There's a reason that gin was called 'mothers' ruin!'

Juno22 · 20/02/2022 21:09

You've had 2 gins. You'll be fine tomorrow.
Are you being serious?
