Bloody Tesco

Before I get started on let me say I’m in North East and weather is not bad here.

Made the decision to switch to Tesco. Get first order today, comes an hour late - ok, switches my diet drinks for full fat - ok will just refuse substitutions… but the best thing has to be that they just don’t deliver half my shop! Ring them and they basically say whoops our error but we can’t redeliver until 2 days time as we’re fully booked. Wtf have I made the worst mistake moving from Morrisons to Tesco? I always hear great things about Tesco but this is just a joke?

Tesco’s is great where I am, get a delivery every week

ILoveAllRainbowsx · 18/02/2022 21:16

I've used them for nearly 20 years and have never had any issues.

I think you were just very unlucky.

It could just be your local store but I would give them one more try and if they don't improve then I wouldn't bother again.

SpiceRat · 18/02/2022 21:19

My nearest Tesco are utterly fucking useless. Same story as you and the herbs we ordered for the guinea pig were always brown and dripping. Morrisons is great here too, but too expensive for me so we switched back to doing the shop in person at Lidl.

HoldenCaulfieldismyhomeboy · 18/02/2022 21:19

I think you were just very unlucky OP. I've used tesco delivery for 5 years and overall great service. Asda definitely worse (I'll sometimes order asda for certain products tesco don't do.)

Aarghhtesco · 18/02/2022 21:22

@SpiceRat yes moved from Morrisons as just too expensive/poor choice even with a discount.

That does suck clearly. I would say however that I also live in the north east and regularly use Tesco for home delivery and they are usually good in my experience.
Unanananana · 18/02/2022 21:44

They cancelled my delivery tonight without telling me. I was on hold for nearly 30 minutes. Yes, the weather is bad/roads are bad etc. Then cancel my order earlier and don't take my fucking money five hours before my timeslot!

No text, no email, no call and no update on the app. Its the first time I've had issues with them though and Asda are a complete joke so I'll have to stick with them.

GirlInACountrySong · 18/02/2022 21:47

staff sickness means people are in roles they aren't trained for just trying to help out/cover

this will happen during a pandemic so i wouldn't judge them on that!! same with being later mean should those vans have even been out today with the weather warnings?

Ohyesiam · 18/02/2022 21:51

Morrisons is much better than Tesco

tkwal · 18/02/2022 21:55

I reckon deliveries are extra busy this week because of people "stocking up" due to all the hype about the storms. Not much help to you I know but it will probably be better next time. Check you got your refund too

ouch321 · 18/02/2022 21:57

But Tesco and Morrisons are much of a muchness price-wise no?

TerryChoc · 18/02/2022 21:59

Tescos are expensive IMO. North east too.
On a side note I also hate shopping there as every isle has 3-4 (no joke) online pickers with their huge trolleys who are on a time schedule therefore entitled to be in my way so I end up navigating my way around them and waiting for them to shift so I can pick items I’ve turned up in person to buy.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 18/02/2022 22:02

I’ve had more than 10 years faultless service from Tesco, after Asda took my Christmas groceries to the same address in a different town.

iridescentpaint · 18/02/2022 22:03

I've switched to Asda after years with Tesco. Main reason being I could never get a delivery slot, whereas Asda have loads. They lost my monthly delivery saver payment after years of custom and didn't even try and tempt me back. Very happy with Asda.

Sainsburys are the superior supermarket. Never had any major issues wiyj delivery

What herbs does a guinea pig eat?

Always always have something go wrong with sainsburys. Something out of date or mouldy. Never switching from tesco again.
ParadiseLaundry · 18/02/2022 22:20

I'm also in the NE and have always had amazing service from Tesco, even when it's been snowing and never even had particularly bad subs, even at Xmas. Maybe a different Tesco obviously but maybe just an unlucky one-off?

ukborn · 18/02/2022 22:28

Tesco is the best in terms of delivery in my experience. Only once did they let me down on the delivery (and I've used them most weeks for years). Sainsburys not too bad and Waitrose ok but £5 to deliver and often don't have what I've ordered. Ocado the absolute worse by far - frequent late deliveries, stock is poor, customer service dire. Never used Morrisons.

SusannaQueen · 18/02/2022 22:35

Tesco are our only delivery choice here, so we've been with them for years. Tbh, they are fine, substitutions are usually sensible, they arrive within the quoted times. Main problem is things sometimes being shortcoded, but not listed as such on the invoice, I phone when that happens and always get a full refund. Fruit and veg always seems carefully chosen, but too much plastic as they bag loose veg.

Blossomtoes · 18/02/2022 22:39

This thread has just reminded me why I go to the supermarket in person and choose my own groceries.

Mamamia7962 · 18/02/2022 22:43

Have used Tesco delivery for years, always great service. If they are running late I always get a text message to let me know.

Did you not notice when they delivered that half your shopping wasn't there, especially as they don't deliver in bags now.

Scianel · 18/02/2022 22:44

I have very good service from Sainbury's - few substitutions and they tend to be sensible, good use-by dates, deliveries always on time - but I appreciate that they aren't the cheapest option.

RedCandyApple · 18/02/2022 22:47

Sainsbury’s not good where I am, 12 subs on my last shop with them and 4 unavailable that’s the most I’ve ever had with any supermarket!

Scianel · 18/02/2022 22:59

I guess what the best supermarket for home delivery is must totally vary by area then. Twelve subs and four things unavailable is like only getting half a delivery!
