Watching dream home makeovers (never seen it before) and they were using wallpaper that costs £185 per roll!! Confused
Do people spend this much on wallpaper? Aibu to think it could be spent on something else? Obviously each to their own and it's your money spend it on what you like but wow I had no idea this was a thing Blush

Oh no I need this now 😬 just about affordable for a downstairs loo but I'd have to replace the white tiles

@RufustheFloralmissingreindeer

corsica

Mine is from the same place…but parrots 😀

Love the parrots too...

I've also got the Japanese storks in our bedroom. Love that one too...

CorsicaDreaming · 18/02/2022 19:45

@babyjellyfish

Bathroom!

I've just done something similar on one wall in ours... I love it, but can see it wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea...

It should be £185 for a three roll box (but I got it in the sale) from Mind the Gap.

That's so cool, @CorsicaDreaming!

Doesn't wallpaper in a bathroom get damp though?

Yes I'm wondering on this... and I have a nine year old who loves a bath 😬

Will report back in a few months....

CorsicaDreaming · 18/02/2022 19:47

@viques - definitely something you need 😉

JaninaDuszejko · 18/02/2022 20:37

@CorsicaDreaming @babyjellyfish You need Decorators Varnish. Awesome stuff.

TAKESNOSHITSHIRLEY · 18/02/2022 20:42

i moan at paying 20 pound or over and always chose paint instead as i just wont pay it

its not that i cant pay it i just wont

mjf981 · 18/02/2022 20:55

Just when you think you’ve already reached peak mumsnet...someone comes along and is paying 370 A ROLL for wallpaper. Surely THIS has to be peak mumsnet?!

AlmostAJillSandwich · 18/02/2022 20:58

I'd take paint over wallpaper any day, not a fan of patterns

StopSkrikin · 18/02/2022 21:01

The most I've paid is £50 a roll for the most beautiful Disney Princess wallpaper. I felt very decadent because I grew up with £1.99 anaglypta.

My God, it hurt like buggery to rip that stuff off the wall after 3 years when the DC decided the princesses 'freaked her out'. To add insult to injury the plaster came off with it 😫

FatFilledTrottyPuss · 18/02/2022 21:26

Thank god this is such a short thread, if it has been any longer I’d definitely end up spending money I don’t have on beautiful wallpaper I’ve got nowhere to hang! Oh I love all the timorous beastie ones!

Grantingmum · 18/02/2022 21:31

@drpet49

Wallpaper is so dated.
No...it's really not.
JudgeJ · 18/02/2022 21:35

@LollyLol

I don't mean to be rude, but the wallpaper at Timorous beasties had better look an awful lot better in real life than it does online.

I hope, if I stray to far from the aisle of B&Q with the low-toxicity paint, someone will haul me away. Fancy expensive wallpaper, ugh!

It looks to me like something my late MIL liked to hang. I didn't realise that wallpaper had become so fashionable again, I recall being so thrilled when plain painted walls became the thing!
Ghislainedefeligonde · 18/02/2022 21:36

We splashed out for some William Morris wallpaper (£75/roll)for my ensuite but rest of house is done with £5-10 /roll from Dunelm!
It will be an amazing room when it’s done but wouldn’t want to have spent the same in other rooms!

Blossomtoes · 18/02/2022 21:41

@Shadappayourface

Wallpaper in toilets 🤢 it's like when carpets in toilets used to be a thing!
It’s not remotely like it. It’s the perfect place to go completely over the top with decoration. Tiny quantities of paper and you spend too little time in there for it to be overwhelming.
MistyGreenAndBlue · 18/02/2022 22:21

The last wallpaper we bought was £8.95 a roll. That was in January.

We like it fine. Grin

Now i feel the need for Japanese storks …dammit

@RufustheFloralmissingreindeer - I think you need to think of them as works of art and get them instead of buying a picture... and Mind the Gap is three rolls for £180 - rather than one roll for £400 or whatever someone just posted (that is a bit bonkers!).

I've only ever bought one box of three and just do a panel, the storks look like a tapestry wall hanging. Then match the paint behind to the background colour of the wallpaper...

and buy IKEA wardrobes to offset the cost of the wallpaper 😆

Wallpaper 185... per roll?!

@JaninaDuszejko - The wallpaper/ lining paper we had to get off the bathroom walls before we started in there seemed to have been welded on. It had been up for about 15 years and took an industrial steamer and two whole days to get off... so I'm hoping my fish will stay put! But will have a look at this too, thanks.
