AIBU not to possess a toilet brush?

It appears on MN that not having a toilet brush is one of the worst of crimes.

Well, we don't have one. And why? Because we clean any skid marks straightaway with extra loo paper and always have bloo in the loo (and the loos get a thorough clean each month).

Also toilet brushes are nasty things, with bits of poo in. What horrors they are, and I don't think these nasty, germ-infested items belong anywhere in a decent home.

So AIBU?

I dont give a shit if anyone has a toilet brush or not. This subject has been done to death.

LuckyAmy1986 · 16/02/2022 11:57

Yeah same. I’m guessing your post is just to wind people up.

Knickerbokas · 16/02/2022 11:57

This has been done a thousand times on MN.

Your choice.

Personally I agree with you. Toilet brushes are rank.

Lots don't agree however.

Pennox · 16/02/2022 11:57

I don’t have one either for the same reason, they’re gross.

However, I don’t like the bloo things, not convinced they’re great for the environment and are an extra thing to buy that I don’t think you really need. We do a thorough clean weekly.

vodkaredbullgirl · 16/02/2022 11:59

Hmm not more shit posts lol

TheKeatingFive · 16/02/2022 12:01

You know perfectly well its a mark of hygiene obsessive honour to not have one on MN.

Personally, I don't really get it, they're very easy to clean and I don't want to be sticking my hand down the bowl.

But you do you and all that. Why do you think anyone cares?

DropYourSword · 16/02/2022 12:03

You've got it all wrong. Generally on Mumsnet it seems toilet brushes are as welcome as a case of scorching herpes.

BobHadBitchTits · 16/02/2022 12:04

Ahh, a toilet brush thread.

It's been a while since one of these... About a week

pigsDOfly · 16/02/2022 12:05

Have you been reading the same MN as I have.

I've been on here for quite a number of years and, as pps said, the subject of loo brushes crops up very frequently, and without fail the majority of posters seem to think that loo brushes have been sent to earth by Satan, except of course, the poster who wash theirs in their dishwashers, along with the lavatory seat and their crocs.

RitaFires · 16/02/2022 12:10

I really don't care what other people do with their toilets to be honest. I have a toilet brush but that doesn't preclude any guest from sticking their hand down with loo roll if they so wish.

I voted YABU for bringing this up again though, it is widely known that a significant portion of mumsnet are anti toilet brush.

Ambushedbycakeinmydreams · 16/02/2022 12:11

Just to add - we're also a leave the loo seat & lid down household. I think loos with the lids up look absolutely rank, as who wishes to look inside a toilet?

I dislike toilet brushes, I do find them a bit vomit-worthy.. however it’s the thought of having to scrub shit with a bristle brush, rinse it off then keep said shitty bristle brush next to the toilet to use another day. I have however come across silicone toilet brushes that aren’t bristle-y - I intend to invest once we’re in the new house but I don’t think I could be without a brush at all tbh.

How do you remove poo marks from under the water without a brush.. you put your hands into the toilet wash with some ‘tissue’ and wipe the shit from the toilet bowl, with sodden tissue?

Phos · 16/02/2022 12:14

They're kind of gross. We have one of those toilet duck things with flushable pads.

Fuzzy303 · 16/02/2022 12:20

I don't have a toilet brush, degusting horrible poo sticks imo. I do have one of those duck things with the disposable bit that you flush down the loo

WutheringHeights66 · 16/02/2022 12:21

not this AGAIN

TheKeatingFive · 16/02/2022 12:24

You can clean them you know Grin

I'm waiting for someone to come full circle on this and declare they don't have a loo, awful poo receptacles, and they shit in the ditch instead.

WeAreTheHeroes · 16/02/2022 12:26

Just put a composting toilet in and have done with the whole shebang.

What is absolutely rank is only thoroughly cleaning your loo once a month.
CloudPop · 16/02/2022 12:31

Christ who cares😩

JellybabyGina87 · 16/02/2022 12:34

You may not have a minging toilet brush but I bet your toilet has limescale and there's shit particles under the rim. You need to scrub it hunny

MangoLipstick · 16/02/2022 12:39

Grin I full on laugh when I see these threads
CloudPop · 16/02/2022 12:42

@MangoLipstick again. And again. And again. It's bizarre really.

Spiderysummer · 16/02/2022 12:44

I keep my toilet brush pretty clean using bleach in the holder and making sure it's rinsed using the toilet water. Having to clean other people's poo and my own, from my loo with a tissue is disgusting. Brush is replaced regularly and my toilet is clean! I'm a sporadic viewer of mumsnet and hasn't realised ownership was looked down upon.

Soundby · 16/02/2022 12:45

Same shit different day

KatyRebecca84 · 16/02/2022 12:50

How else do you get rid of skids? With your hands down the toilet and toilet roll? Vom!
