To think I could still be pregnant

Ok guys hear me out I know I probably sound crazy

I'm 16 days late on my periods. I have taken 2 pregnancy tests both negative. I don't know what it is but I have a gut feeling I'm pregnant. Could this even be possible? I do feel like my breast have gone slightly bigger and also I have a lot more discharge that usual. Don't even know if the second one is a symptom lol

Has this ever happened to anyone ?? Anyone ever experienced something like this.

I'm thinking to take a blood test just to be 100% sure I'm not pregnant. Main reason being I'm flying out of the country next week and Iv ordered pills from GP so I don't start my periods while being away. Now because my and DH have been TTC for nearly 2 years I don't want to take any risks at all if I could be pregnant by taking these pills.

Again I know I might sound crazy but I just feel so convinced an I don't know how else to put my mind at ease? Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank u guys

Well of course you could be pregnant Confused

Why would that be crazy?

Jojobees · 13/02/2022 18:49

Are your cycles regular and a normal length?
I ask this as 16 days late would mean a really high HcG by now that would most certainly be enough to be detected on a home pregnancy test.

cuno · 13/02/2022 18:51

@Cheeseonpost

Well of course you could be pregnant Confused

Why would that be crazy?

Because she has tested negative on 2 pregnancy tests!
cuno · 13/02/2022 18:53

I experienced this before, was convinced but kept testing negative and I ended up with a really late heavy awful period.

ThirdElephant · 13/02/2022 18:53

Were the tests you used in date? Did you follow the directions exactly?

passionfruitpizza · 13/02/2022 18:54

I went from v regular cycles to v irregular. I was about 3 weeks late one cycle and convinced I had to be pregnant but I'd just developed PCOS and irregular cycles was the only obvious symptom.

Cheeseonpost · 13/02/2022 18:54

@cuno and?

Many are cheap shit and don’t work, many do it wrong etc.

MermaidCat · 13/02/2022 18:54

When did you last take a pregnant test? It’s possible you ovulated late and so your cycles longer so I’d keep taking tests. Are your cycles normally regular?

DrSbaitso · 13/02/2022 19:01

In my personal experience, a negative test after you're late has always meant you're not pregnant. Even if you ovulated a bit later than usual, 16 days late really should be giving you a strong positive if you are.

What's this gut feeling? Have you been pregnant before?

If you're planning on taking these pills then yes, see your doctor to be sure, because strange things happen. But periods do funny things sometimes and all sorts of things can knock them out of whack.

yummymummy1230 · 13/02/2022 19:01

@Cheeseonpost As I said I took 2 pregnancy tests and they weren't the cheap shit and I did it properly.

My cycles have been pretty regular for past few months, I have been like a few days late but this is the longest I have been late tbh.

I took a pregnancy test last week and also yesterday and negative.

Take a decent test not a strip test, a clear blue digital so you can read the words rather than um and ah over a slight line.

PandaDander · 13/02/2022 19:03

When did you have your covid jabs?

yummymummy1230 · 13/02/2022 19:05

@DrSbaitso I can't explain properly what this gut feeling is. I don't know why I just feel like I am pregnant. I keep having weird stomach pain, I feel my breast are slightly bigger and also a lot more discharge than usual. At the same time because we've been TTC for a long time I think is it just all in my head because in my heart I really want to be pregnant.

I'm more worried because we are flying out an il be taking these pills I need to be 100% sure that I'm not pregnant as I don't want to take any risks at all.

So that's why I just wanted to know if anyone has ever had this sort of experience before ? Iv seen alot of crazy stories of people have negative results when in fact they are pregnant and had no idea until they give birth haha

@PandaDander I had my second dose 2nd week of January

EishetChayil · 13/02/2022 19:07

Did you have a COVID booster? Mine delayed my period for about a week.

yummymummy1230 · 13/02/2022 19:08

@EishetChayil I haven't had the booster yet. I just had the second dose of Pfizer last month

That will be why then.. effects your periods

Mo1911 · 13/02/2022 19:09

Chances are that'll be the reason.

platerspinner · 13/02/2022 19:10

I was about to ask about covid vaccines, I was a week late for both my periods after my jabs (oddly not the booster), regular as clockwork normally. There's been a few studies now that suggest there's a strong link between the vaccine and woman's cycles being affected

scaredsadandstuck · 13/02/2022 19:10

It could be the vaccine. Have you had a period since you got the 2nd dose?

DrSbaitso · 13/02/2022 19:10

The Covid vaccine is known to mess with some women's cycles, but it's nor usually more than one.

At 16 days late, with a negative test, I do think the most likely thing is that you're just having a weird cycle for whatever reason. It's so cruel that the symptoms of very early pregnancy are basically the same as being about to come on. But strange things happen, so definitely see your doctor to be certain before you take the pills. And I hope you get the result you want, soon.

FoamBurst · 13/02/2022 19:13

Vaccine messed with mine. Was 6 weeks late. Then since that one. I've had a Period every 18 days!

yummymummy1230 · 13/02/2022 19:13

Ohhh I can't believe I totally forgot about that because I haven't started my periods since having the vaccine. Ok now that makes a lot of sense. Lol thank god for mumsnet haha. I feel a lot more reassured now I know that might sound crazy. But I know now it's most likely the vaccine that caused the delay

@DrSbaitso Thank you very much. I really hope I get that BFP soon too. Yes il ring the GP tomorrow just to make sure and il also take another pregnancy test before I fly out.
