To be done with covid testing!!

I've had enough!
Three children! Numerous stints of positive tests, while supposed sick child is fine!
Huge chunks of school & missed each time.
DH & I barely keeping our heads above water both professionally & personally!
AIBU to say I'm done testing?
And that if I have a child that is unwell, I'll keep that child home to recover, but the rest of us with get on with things?

Anyone who wants to get vaccinated/boostered can, vulnerable will have to take precautions like they always do?

Just stop testing. It's never been compulsory.

user1496146479 · 11/02/2022 21:46

I know it's not! But have felt morally obliged until now! Think I'm done!

I'm done too. Followed every rule, tested twice weekly for work and school. Enough, I'm having no more.

ilovesooty · 11/02/2022 21:50

vulnerable will have to take precautions like they always do

Well that's a sweeping disregard for millions of people.

Never mind. Unless you work in the NHS there won't be any testing soon, which should please you no end.

Theunamedcat · 11/02/2022 21:53

Yup I'm done ds spent the last two weeks home asymptomatic gave it to me and its crippled me due to my blasted medical conditions if I had got some space from him I might not have got it

Sweeping but true no matter how you look at it.

I'm not in the UK, no talk of dropping close contact isolation here as yet! Unfortunately

I haven't done any testing since Christmas. I won't be testing any more.

Hankunamatata · 11/02/2022 22:01

This month broke me. My dc each one tested postive 6 days after the other then I tested postive 7 days after last child. I could cry.

Hankunamatata · 11/02/2022 22:02

And I am triple vaccinated

KimchiWithMe · 11/02/2022 22:05

People are still testing?

SmellyOldOwls · 11/02/2022 22:05

Yep, I'm pretty much done. I was already legally done with testing the kids (both under 5 so don't have to test in my country) but I had covid recently so I'm sure that plus two jobs means I won't be getting it again for a while. Self isolating with kids at home is just really shit.

ilovesooty · 11/02/2022 22:09

@KimchiWithMe

People are still testing?
Yes, before I meet indoors with elderly or vulnerable people and before I meet face to face clients.

Same here ds1 tested positive on day 9 ds2 positive on or around day 7 I did

I've been stuck either in my home or close to home (ds1 is 13) for almost 30 days

Sometimeswinning · 11/02/2022 23:27

Yep! I'm done. Losing time at work. Children not at school. Next month it apparently means nothing.

slaybell · 11/02/2022 23:39

We are just coming out of our second covid outbreak at home (just waiting for my negative test now!). Won't be testing again after this. Highly unlikely we will ALL get it again before they bin testing anyway.

charlie10k · 11/02/2022 23:40

More fool you. Just stop it.

Mickarooni · 11/02/2022 23:41

@KimchiWithMe

People are still testing?
Yep, as part of my job working with vulnerable people. It’s not my favourite task but needs must.
Pbjontoast · 11/02/2022 23:44

I haven't tested since Christmas and won't again. We need to stop this farce now. What's the point in testing if we won't even need to isolate in a couple of weeks anyway?

Cut the endless piles of wasted plastic. I dread to think what all this has done to the environment..masks that don't even work, lfts that aren't reliable, PCRs , every individual bit of these tests in little plastic bags. I'm finished.

Pbjontoast · 11/02/2022 23:45

And if people want to continue this crap they can pay for there own lfts. How much is this costing?

Well you're lovely 🙄 The vulnerable will have to take precautions like they always do. Lets hope you or any member of your family never become vulnerable then.

Are people still testing? Get on with your lives people and stop with the hysteria now.

ilovesooty · 12/02/2022 00:05

hysteria?

To take a few moments to test if you can before meeting the very elderly and vulnerable?

HappyDays40 · 12/02/2022 00:18

I did away with it weeks ago but do an LFT test for work or if seeing someone vulnerable.

What a ridiculous thing to say. Plenty of health and social care and education staff on here!
TooBored1 · 12/02/2022 06:36

Yup, regular tests here. Dd's class had 14 positive cases couple of weeks ago. Originating child's family don't test, so not picked up until that child was quite ill and by then, they'd messed up 13 other children's education, impacted 13 other families and prevented the whole class from taking part in fun, whole school activities.
