Another woman has resigned... when will it be the big man's turn?!

"That Brazilian man" a quick Google wouldn't have gone amiss Hmm

CurzonDax · 11/02/2022 11:23

She should never have needed to resign - she should have been sacked a long time ago.

Now that Boris' buddy is no longer in charge, let's hope we can get a fair investigation into the Tory parties.

*I too am a bit fed up of women constantly paying the price or men's mistakes.

However, she's the boss, and while she hasn't instilled this dreadful misogynistic culture (and, frankly, shit policing culture) in the Met, she has been completely unable to fix it, so she's not up to the job and she has to go.

Who can fix it? I've no idea. It needs absolute wholesale changes, from top to bottom.

What a mess.*

This ^^

@hibbledibble

Out of interest, what evidence do people have, in order to label Cressida Dick 'terrible'?

Is it the actions of a single off duty officer?

The most recent investigation into the death of Daniel Morgan specifically named Cressida Dick as being obstructive to the investigation. She assists in making it difficult for the Met to be investigated. As the head of the Met, that is pretty "terrible".
KonTikki · 11/02/2022 11:37

It will be interesting to see whether the Tory Party elevate her to the Lords like other ex commisioners, or whether she will be left to retire "gracefully", like Bercow.

DeeCeeCherry · 11/02/2022 11:44

Dick's wife is Helen Ball(!) - Head of The Met's Professional Standards Section.

Ball's second in command is Deputy Assistant Commissioner Bas Javid - Savid Javid's brother.

The stink of corruption.

I'm glad Dick has gone but no doubt she'll be rewarded with a seat in the House of Lords or some such.

pointythings · 11/02/2022 11:54

I'm glad she's gone. She was no ally to women and the murder of Jean-Charles de Menezes alone should have been enough to put her out of the job. She's nothing but a Tory stooge. Good riddance.

The Met needs tearing down and rebuilding from scratch, but that will never happen.

MorningStarling · 11/02/2022 11:58

I'm glad she's gone, I've been eagerly waiting to see which newspaper(s) went with the inevitable "Dick's Out" headline (from the front pages it looks like only the Star, and not even as the main story).

Seriously though, good riddance to bad rubbish. During her watch an officer abducted and murdered an innocent woman FFS. Her head should have rolled over that, let alone all the other sexist and racist outrages that have happened under her authority.

IntermittentParps · 11/02/2022 12:04

@Womencanlift

Good riddance. She should have went years ago
Yep. After Menezes.

I'm not a fan of hers but I do think Khan has been gunning for her for some time now though which is not a good look. I really hope that they appoint another woman as I don't believe we will get rid of misogyny in the Met without one I'm afraid. Personally I'd like to see Maggie Blythe get the job.

IntermittentParps · 11/02/2022 12:34

I think he's been gunning for her because she's a liability and corrupt.

Berengaria1 · 11/02/2022 12:40

She went because she was incompetent in the role, not because she was a woman. She wasn't a fall guy for men, she was their boss and was accountable.

When she and her force have basically lost the trust of Londoners, is it surprising he was "gunning" for her (I don't think he was but there were multiple opportunities to get rid and he didn't).
grapewine · 11/02/2022 12:56

The thread titles for these posts make my day.

She was awful. About time.

It is not just misogyny that needs dealing with tough, is it?
