I mean he has form of trying to pay people to beat up/intimidate other people, it just doesn't sit right with me that a small group of thugs would conveniently pester starmer outside westminster about jimmy savile, I am sure everyone with skin in the game would already be well aware of his work as head of the CPS and all aspects of the Savile case years ago.

They were protesting about Covid vaccinations and restrictions. One of them shouted about Savile, one shouted about Assange.

I take it you've not been past Parliament in the last couple of decades? There's always a vocal mob outside shouting about one thing or another.

You might say a lot of things about Johnson, but I don't think he needs to hire a mob to hassle Starmer - there's a mob ready and waiting to tackle all prominent politicians.

SheilaWilcox · 08/02/2022 13:21

I thought it was the other way round, Starmer hired them for the sympathy vote and to make Boris realise he was wrong with the Saville jibes.
Comes to something doesn't it when we don't trust ANY of them?

ShittyFingers · 08/02/2022 13:23

More like Starmer set it up himself so that he has something else to whinge at Boris about

correct I do have no reason to go near that pit of vipers, especially when it cost me £8 last time to get the tube into Central to see the xmas lights and it wasn't worth it.

I am going off what I read in the Metro this morning.

Hmm They are the basically the same people outside Westminster that harass all politicians of every stripe and journalists alike. They hate Boris too, probably more!

Perhaps not answering your question directly but so repulsed am I by Johnson's blatant attempts to get people to Look Over There I had to turn the radio off at the sound of his voice.

What a repugnant individual he is.

If he were a boxer he'd resort to biting his opponent's ear off.

If you can't play fair don't stoop so low Johnson.

sashagabadon · 08/02/2022 13:26

Pop to Westminster on a Sunday and with any luck they’ll shout at you too

SickAndTiredAgain · 08/02/2022 13:26

Why? So the news could focus more on his false and inappropriate comments? (False being what the bbc called them, inappropriate is what the speaker said).
Johnson doesn’t exactly come out of it smelling like roses and since he’s made his point to the people who’ll lap it up, I doubt he loves the continued focus when he’s lost a long standing advisor over it and has Tory MPs calling it unacceptable.

He paid to people beaten up???
AffIt · 08/02/2022 13:35

I used to cross Parliament Square to get to work most days and, in fairness, there is ALWAYS a bunch of moon howlers kicking about.

I loathe Johnson and there's not much I wouldn't put past him, but in this instance, I think it's a bit of a case of 'same shit, different day'.

entropynow · 08/02/2022 13:37

No. There are enough very stupid and vicious people to decide to do this all by themselves.

I used to work in the DoH and they were there a decade ago. You’re absolutely right.
dontcallmelen · 08/02/2022 13:55

Darius Guppy, I think it was Boris embroiled in some of plot to get him beaten up I can’t remember the details was a long time ago.

Junction5aOnTheM4 · 08/02/2022 13:58

Might the crowd have been to do with that freedom convoy?

sashagabadon · 08/02/2022 13:59

Yes junction they were that group plus others

SantaClawsServiette · 08/02/2022 14:03

I think that's pretty unlikely, it didn't really do anything for Boris and I don't see how it could. If anything it made people more sympathetic to Starmer.

Besides, it is totally believable that people would do something like this. There is a lot of minor civil unrest around at the moment, people are very over-wrought.

daimbarsatemydogsbone · 08/02/2022 14:10

I can't believe anyone's saying either Johnson or Starmer would pay someone to do what those Neanderthals did yesterday.

If you posted either opinion seriously I have some bitcoin you will want to get hold of - just send me £500 quick for your share.

Yes, this.
And very often it's the same mob (or at least they are linked). Same faces all the time. Anti EU, pro-statue, anti lockdown. They're more than protestors, they're overgrown skinheads, professional fascists.

thepastisanothercountry · 08/02/2022 14:21

YABU for all the reasons metioned by PPs and also because people who are prepared to behave like that are probably also equally likely to either tell the media they were paid or potentially blackmail to hide it. It would be a very stupid manoeuvre and while Johnson isn't covering himself in glory at the moment (understatement) I dont think he's quite that stupid.

thepastisanothercountry · 08/02/2022 14:21

^blackmail Johnson^^

Clavinova · 08/02/2022 14:23

Darius Guppy speaks here in 2013;

As we all know, Mr Johnson never provided me with any address and it is perfectly clear from the tape recording in question that he was simply placating a friend he considered to be letting off steam...

You ought to be careful OP. You may find yourself up for libel.

TicTacHoh · 08/02/2022 14:48

Yabu, they've been out there for the best part of 2 years now

Iwantmyoldnameback · 08/02/2022 16:12

It's caused him even more trouble than he's already in, he'd like everyone to forget he said it I think.
