Help, my dog is poorly

Posting here for traffic.

Dog has been fine all day - at 4:30ish she threw up. It looked like a pile of poo. 20 minutes later she threw up again 3 times one after another, huge piles. I’ve never seen so much sick from one animal.
Half hour later she’s wandering around pacing, whining, staring at the wall and digging at the wooden floor before taking herself off into another room and throwing up again.

All in all she’s been sick 7 times. No diarrhoea. Poo has been normal all day. She’s now very quiet, almost lethargic, looks very worried with herself.

Does this warrant out of hours vets? Any idea what it could be?? I’m so worried

If she's throwing up faeces I'd be concerned about a blockage. Vets ASAP.

Susu49 · 06/02/2022 19:14

Yes definitely

Adm1010 · 06/02/2022 19:15

Speak to a vet ASAP x

Pyri · 06/02/2022 19:15

Vets for sure, could be a blockage if she’s throwing up faeces

ShittyFingers · 06/02/2022 19:18

Just to add it wasn’t faeces, just looked like that. No smell to it

Could your dog have eaten some cat/fox/other dog faeces in the hour or so before? My dog once did, threw it up for 2 hours and then was absolutely fine as soon as it was out of his system? I starved him for 12 hours before reintroducing bland food and he was fine

Thebedistoohot · 06/02/2022 19:19

Vet right away - this is a sign of potential life threatening blockage.

LoneTortoise · 06/02/2022 19:21

Vet straight away.

Inspectorslack · 06/02/2022 19:22

Ring the vet x

Peasandcabbage · 06/02/2022 19:24

Where are you?

There's been a lot in the news about a nasty dog vomiting bug.

Normally I would say see how they go as it could be something they ate but with that going about I would get seen

Susu49 · 06/02/2022 19:25

Still urgent vet immediately.

Even if its just vomiting/sickness bug she might need hydration support.

Please don't hang about Flowers

TheCurrywurstPrion · 06/02/2022 19:28

How old is she?

What size?

Has she had the opportunity to eat something she shouldn’t?

Redpriestandmozart · 06/02/2022 19:29

Immediately, if it is this bug she will most likely need a drip as they dehydrate very quickly.

My friend's two dogs had this bug last week and it was absolutely horrendous. Dogs like babies can go downhill very quickly but with treatment can bounce back again quickly too.

Good luck and please update us.

Theluggage15 · 06/02/2022 19:32

My dog behaved like this, was also stretching a lot. It was an intestinal blockage which needed an op. Could be a bug but don’t take chances anyway, call the vet.

Oh God love her, she is very nauseous, she needs an antiemetic, she's not feeling great at all :(
SirVixofVixHall · 06/02/2022 19:56

Hope the vet sees you quickly OP.

Our lab pup had something similar over night on Wednesday. He was fine by Thursday night though

Darbs76 · 06/02/2022 20:11

1000% out of hours vet is needed. Hope your dog is ok

Wineat5isfine · 06/02/2022 20:13

There’s a nasty D&V bug going round at the moment for dogs. In my area, dogs are becoming very sick from being walked in certain fields / woods.

Hope the vets can help!

Prokolin - available in pet shops and Amazon is a great med to help with this kind of problem. As long as there is no blood in the vomit / stool.

Palmtree9 · 06/02/2022 20:14

Sounds like she's either eaten something on a walk or in the garden, or a blockage. It took 3 days for my dog to show signs of blockage when he got one, he'd chewed a towel 3 days earlier!
