NHS Vaccination Harassment....

tickingthebox73 · 29/01/2022 08:29

Firstly, and clearly, I am pro vaccination. I have all three, as does DH. Our DC's have had one each.

The DC's were at 12 weeks (i.e. able to have 2nd jab) 2 1/2 weeks ago. Eldest started his mocks, so I put off the 2nd jab until they were finished.

I have now had two phone calls from the NHS harassing me asking to speak to my eldest child to tell him he needs to be vaccinated. I told them it was inappropriate to call.

Am I being unreasonable? I don't need a call, I'm going to have them done, I don't need to explain why I haven't done it yet and FGS its only 2 1/2 weeks past the earliest it could be done.

We are being told how under pressure the NHS is, and yet they have the resource to repeatedly call someone who is 2.5 weeks past the earliest date they can be vaccinated. AIBU?

Oh god don't. I am sick to death of reminders and calls and letter re all although covid.

The second you order a test the flood gates open. And if you ordered nore than one as you are testing your family you get it fir each person.

Just fuck off

Whatwouldscullydo · 29/01/2022 08:32

All things covid

CharbetHallmark · 29/01/2022 08:34

Same here. It's the texts for me. My kids had covid this week and it's been text after text.

echt · 29/01/2022 08:34

Yes multiple texts too....both kids on my number and they were vaccinated on the same day so I get 2 every time Hmm

A basic check would see that every person in our household has engaged with the vaccination programme....we are not about to skip what will be the 9th and 10th vaccinations for our household.

@echt

NHS just doing its job.
I've recieved 2 texts this week telling me not to visit my doctors surgery unless it's a medical emergency, as they are experiencing a shortage of staff due to illness.

A friend who is at the same surgery has recieved a phone call and 3 texts asking her to book her booster.

They may be doing their job, but surely that job should focus on other things as well as Covid? Confused

YANBU OP.

@echt

NHS just doing its job.
Yes - but what job? We are clearly a household engaging with the vaccination programme....so what job are they doing?

I think you might have my drs whinge

Never mind the entire if the drs job is to decide whether something is an emergency. They seem to want patients to triage or diagnose themselves Hmm

PhilCornwall1 · 29/01/2022 08:47

It's endless!

Text messages, letters through the post, GP surgery texting and hassle when I have a blood test.

Yes the self diagnosis and leaving it up to the patients to decide is a real worry. Medical emergency means different things to different people. Some will go for the silliest of reasons, where as others may think their problem isn't serious enough to get checked out, which could mean delays in treatment or even have devastating consequences.Sad
TyrannosaurusRegina · 29/01/2022 10:07

It's hardly harassment.

FruitToast · 29/01/2022 10:12

It's not usually clinical NHS staff that are doing this. It's automated systems and staff employed to the vaccine service and track and trace, as well as GP admin staff that are now stuck doing full time covid work and not their normal job. The GP surgeries will have targets to reach to get paid so they have no choice but to hassle. Although depending on what the current bright idea from the government is, that must be implemented immediately, clinical staff sometimes need to be rapidly redeployed which means clinical services then come under extra pressure.

The major problem we have in the NHS is that lots of the beds are being taken by people that can't be released to social care. Several nursing homes are closed for new admissions, council budgets are stretched and a combination of Brexit and the vaccine mandate meant many people left their poorly paid care jobs to work elsewhere. I imagine with the NI increase in April more staff will leave, seeing as working in a supermarket often pays more than care or HCA jobs and it's not worth the stress!

I've had loads of texts about going for my booster, a few from the NHS and the rest from my doctors surgery. It's ridiculous, i read the first texts, there's no need to keep sending them!

Chloemol · 29/01/2022 10:25

The NHS is doing irs job, they need as many kids vaccinated properly as covid cases are now rising again in school kids. In turn it then rises in adults

I dont see why mocks should stop you booking a jab, do it for two weeks time or something, they see it’s booked they don’t phone

Svara · 29/01/2022 10:26

You can report spam texts by forwarding to OFCOM 7726

greensnail · 29/01/2022 10:32

That seems crazy, I've not had any reminders for my 13 year old - had second dose this week about 16 weeks after the first one.

RavenclawDiadem · 29/01/2022 10:34

Good luck with that. I had a hysterectomy 5 years ago and my cervix was removed. Every couple of months I get irate letters scaremongering about missed smears.

Nobody appears to be able to make the letters stop. Computer says no.

ArabellaStrange · 29/01/2022 10:36

The text messages and letters will be sent out with no human intervention.
The phone calls will be some poor overworked admin who the computer is telling they need to be contacting x y and z, with an annoying pop up every five minutes saying have you done this yet.
And they won't be getting paid enough either.

Theunamedcat · 29/01/2022 10:43

It's actually picked up to daily texts now Thursday Friday AND TODAY I'm not going to have this for the next 11 weeks 😂 that's madness

NeedAHoliday2021 · 29/01/2022 10:44

I’ve had 2 texts and one school letter for dd. It’s weird how others are getting so much more. Maybe depends on your area. My issue is the school age vaccines are given 3-5pm at a site 20 minutes drive away on weekdays. I work for at the local hospital and finish about 5-6pm so she can’t take herself as she’s 14 but I can’t get her there either. Dh has taken lieu time off work to do it which is bonkers.

urghrtypically · 29/01/2022 10:48

I get constant texts telling me to get vaccinated - I am and I know it's on my medical record!!

XenoBitch · 29/01/2022 10:53

I am not vaccinated, and have not had any texts or letters since everyone got them at the start of the rollout. I suppose it may be dependant on where you live as to how much chasing up gets done.

The automated system that sends these texts doesn't know this. Blanket texting is infinitely cheaper than targeted messages. All you have to do is ignore and delete. Hopefully the messages get through to those who have not been paying g attention.
