NHS Vaccination Harassment....

tickingthebox73 · 29/01/2022 08:29

Firstly, and clearly, I am pro vaccination. I have all three, as does DH. Our DC's have had one each.

The DC's were at 12 weeks (i.e. able to have 2nd jab) 2 1/2 weeks ago. Eldest started his mocks, so I put off the 2nd jab until they were finished.

I have now had two phone calls from the NHS harassing me asking to speak to my eldest child to tell him he needs to be vaccinated. I told them it was inappropriate to call.

Am I being unreasonable? I don't need a call, I'm going to have them done, I don't need to explain why I haven't done it yet and FGS its only 2 1/2 weeks past the earliest it could be done.

We are being told how under pressure the NHS is, and yet they have the resource to repeatedly call someone who is 2.5 weeks past the earliest date they can be vaccinated. AIBU?

I am not vaccinated myself and have had no reminders or texts since July last year. Strange how some people are bombarded and others not even contacted.

@TyrannosaurusRegina

It's hardly harassment.
Possibly.

But there are two people on this thread who have not been vaccinated and are getting nothing.

We have had all vaccinations, on time. we are literally "late" by 2 weeks for our 9th and 10th vaccinations as a family. I have received 8 texts, and 2 phone calls.

They are phoning my number and asking to speak to my (just turned) 16 yo....not me. They won't speak to me and I refused to put them through to a 16 year old who frankly wasn't interested in talking to them anyway!

Frankly they are irritating me to the extent that instead of booking the vaccine I am now on mumsnet complaining about it.

@Chloemol

The NHS is doing irs job, they need as many kids vaccinated properly as covid cases are now rising again in school kids. In turn it then rises in adults

I dont see why mocks should stop you booking a jab, do it for two weeks time or something, they see it’s booked they don’t phone

But why should I?

There is a point where it is too intrusive, particularly when you have someone engaged in the vaccination process.

God that sounds crap - do t they have anything better to do? I would think it's a better use of time to phone those 12-15 year olds that haven't had the first jab yet.....

I had an arrogant 20 something employed by the local authority call me early in 2020 to ask me if I was shielding. I got the letter but no i wasn't shielding as I need to live as well as exist (plus you could only go for walks as everywhere was shut)! He was confidently telling me did I realise I'd literally die if I caught it - unfortunately he got more than he bargained for Grin. I no longer take any shit from arrogant little twats!

I’ve called my surgery and asked them to remove me and DS from their contact list. Receptionist said she’d pass our details to the practice manager, so I’ve just got to wait and see if I still get the texts and phone calls going forward.

I’ve had multiple letters, phone calls and text message and I’m sick of it.

Darbs76 · 29/01/2022 18:11

My daughter hasn’t had her 2nd yet and I’ve not no harassment at all. She’s unwell at the moment (going on well before the covid jab) so waiting until she’s seen the paediatrician first before jab 2

RedCandyApple · 29/01/2022 18:18

Yes I had 3 text messages from them in one day

Cam2020 · 29/01/2022 18:30

So annoying!

Our records show...

Well, your records should also show I had Covid the week I was booked in for my booster and now have to wait!

lanthanum · 29/01/2022 18:44

Are you able to book his test? That might then mean they can see that he is planning to have it.

DD's school's first vaccine fell in their mocks period, and the school moved the mocks!

sweepthenmop · 29/01/2022 18:50

YANBU

I went for my booster last week delayed for a number of reasons including Covid itself. Receptionist takes my details then asks quite forcefully 'why have you left it so long?'
None of her business and was definitely not the warm fuzzy welcome anyone nervous about it would be hoping for.

Brownpigeon · 29/01/2022 19:01

I'm not vaccinated. I work for the NHS (well, until April), and block every number that comes from the NHS.
I got sick of being texted. The Boxing day text tipped me over the edge!

Lacedwithgrace · 29/01/2022 19:13

I can't have the vaccine and I'm still being messaged and harassed by doctors. Last week it was at a very inappropriate part of a difficult hospital appointment.

Winterweb · 29/01/2022 21:31

My unjabbed DH was harassed for a while last year but they've given up with him now😅. I got bombarded for a booster before Christmas (I'm not having it), think they've given up with that now too..moved onto easier prey perhaps 😉

Cbtb · 29/01/2022 21:39

Your DS is 16. They do need to speak to him not you unfortunately…he can then tell them he gives permission for them to talk to you and you can get that recorded in his notes (or not it’s up to him) and he can tell them to stop calling. They legally can’t take your word for it anymore as he’s now over 16.

GrumpyTerrier · 29/01/2022 22:38

Yeah it's a bit annoying but I'd just let it go. When I had covid they called me all the time. "You have to quarantine" "Do you know you have to quarantine?" "Do you know you should still be quarantining?" "Are you SURE you are still in quarantine?" "Your quarantine is about to end but make sure you are still in quarantine" etc. And then they'd text the same stuff. It was too much IMO, all that was needed was the first call.

Bwix · 29/01/2022 22:43

I am very pro vaccination and adhered to all the rules, but I found the repeated calls when I had Covid quite upsetting. Yes, I understood the need to isolate, yes of course I intended to do so. Repeat three more times. I felt as if I was being treated like a naughty school kid (when I was actually one of the swot squad) and this was pretty rubbish when I was ill.

SeeminglyOblivious · 29/01/2022 22:46

When I had my first letter inviting me to be vaccinated I called the number and said I wouldn't be having it. They said they'd take me off the list...never heared a peep since.

Same with DH and Dc1.

Whatwouldscullydo · 01/02/2022 08:31

Had more if it today OP.

Dared to try and rearrange my appointment due to work commitments and have been inundated with 4 emails and 4 text messages while I was still on the fucking phone. To them .

And it all messed with my phone settings and unblocked all my numbers.

Fuck off
