Energy increase

Just received an email from Octopus energy asking me to pay £483 on a credit or debit card and then increase my monthly payment to to £268 per month or just increase my monthly payments to £310 with no upfront payment.

My account is just over £200 in debit as of Monday. Current payments are £135. Not really far off what it usually is at the time of year every year.

I am well aware prices are going up and we are prepared to pay more in the coming months but just how can they ask for more money upfront than I actually owe?? And then on their calculations our annual energy bill will be £3960 😱

So AIBU to tell them to stick it where the sun doesn’t shine.

Why not ring them and ask them to explain their calculations?

Sounds like they are trying to shore up capital. Next company to go bust, maybe.

I'd ring them and say, no, you can only afford X amount. If you are not in contract, consider switching.
