To ask if we can return and exchange this?

We bought a new bed from ikea. Its been assembled and it’s simply too big. We haven’t slept on it. Took oh 5 hours to build Blush

Are we able to exchange it for a smaller one? Anyone know how? Do they offer a collection service?

Doubtful, does it include a mattress? I always thought that once a mattress was open it couldnt be returned

Keep the big bed. There’s no such thing as too big a bed!

it's up to the trader, they are not obliged to accept returns
there is nothing wrong with the product, it simply does not suit you.
you failed to do enough research before purchase, so the error is yours.
best thing is to contact the trader and ask them.
but bear in mind that you have no legal redress in this situation.

Yes it does. I think they’ll exchange a matress but not sure about the bed frame.

I'd ask them. Are you sure it's too big? Or is it just bigger than what you had previously.

We did check and it fits with just enough space to get in and out, but it’s tight. We thought it would be okay but after experiencing it, it’s just not workable long term.

IKEA now have a policy where they will buy back from you any ikea furniture which is used to sell in their green scheme. You obviously don’t get the full price back but you get some back. It’s a fantastic scheme but you do have to get the furniture to them which is clearly not worth it for lots of people

IKEA do a 90day no quibble returns on mattresses and 365 days on everything else.

You prob just need to disassemble the bed and bring it in.

Stick it on Facebook marketplace. You’ll most likely sell it for what you paid for it.

We did similar a few years ago. Sold the bed frame for what we’d paid within 24hours. Probably helped by the fact we are over an hours drive from an ikea store.

You might not get 100% refund but I think it’s definitely worth asking.

Obviously, IKEA is very ‘self service’ and I once accidentally bought a round mattress for their round bed. I opened it but they did allow me to return. So grateful as that would have been an expensive mistake!

IKEA has a scheme where they’ll buy your used IKEA furniture back. Price will obviously vary according to how damaged it it. If they don’t allow a refund I’m sure they’ll buy it back from you as a second hand piece.

Yes you can return it.

I have returned built furniture for full price. They sell it in their bargain corner bit.

You may have to disassemble to get it back to the shop, they will still accept it for full refund as long as all the bits are there.

Their customer service is honestly amazing.

Ikea are great with returns. Did you use a family card when buying it? If so there’s no problem bringing it back.
I assembled a kitchen unit then realised it was too tall. They took it back and put it in Bargain Corner.

Yes- friend I know had to move abroad quickly and took apart his IKEA bed and returned with a full refund.
He’d been sleeping on it for 4 months.

Yes they can!!! It's called the Circular Hub and they most certainly will take back an assembled piece of furniture to resell to someone who does want it.

Ikea are really trying to cut back on waste in the furniture world and will take back any of their furniture, even if it has been used and do their best to resell it.

Wow, came here to say, of course not, what a CF - but I'm wrong!

From their returns website:
If the item is unused but unpackaged or assembled, we will assess whether it is in good enough condition for a second life. If this is the case, we will credit the amount to a refund card so that you can find another item that you like better.

Nope, not the case.

Give the branch that you bought the bed from a call to find out if they need to get it back disassembled or if they will take it back in sections (headboard, footboard, base etc.) which would make it easier for you to return to them.
