To think it'll be weeks before we see the Sue Gray report if ever

Chances are the Met Police will take ages to investigate this. So being told to wait for the Sue Gray report was more bullshit wasn't it.

All that work she's done and for what ?
I hope they use some of it during their investigations.

WheelieBinPrincess · 25/01/2022 12:31

Yes, meanwhile we will all be distracted by what Putin is up to, that’s the plan.

Chuechebache · 25/01/2022 12:33

Why would ever anything be done efficiently in this country!

BruceAndNosh · 25/01/2022 12:36

The poor woman. She had just finished proof reading it and bang. ,...Had to add Boris's birthday party . In pencil, in the margin

Poetrypatty · 25/01/2022 12:37

Hoping for a war to let him off the hook! The selfishness of the man knows no bounds.

Yeah give it about 5 years

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 25/01/2022 12:40

I read that Number 10 can limit what is released anyway?
It'll be another Boris whitewash where he just carries on as usual Hmm

Sharrowgirl · 25/01/2022 12:43

This will work to his advantage. He now has a long window of time, probably months, to focus on anything and everything but parties.

3scape · 25/01/2022 12:43

They'll be after ditching Boris or someone else so when the findings are out they can be faux 'see we did the right thing'. Then they'll probably think whoever was booted will have suffered enough.

Still if it means ditch Boris it's a start. Shame all Tories are cut from the same really

Whatwhywhenwhere · 25/01/2022 12:45

Delay, distract, diffuse seems to be policy at the moment

Poetrypatty · 25/01/2022 12:47

So weird though isn't it. PM investigated by the Police and that's seen as good for him Confused Confused

I feel like I want Boris to stay. Not because he's competent. But we all know he's a lying, lazy, useless leader. He doesn't try to hide it. The likes of Sunak and Gove are far more terrifying as a leader, simply because they would be too clever to get caught.

Its almost a better the devil you know moment.

I feel like the longer he's there, the less likely the Tories will win the next GE. If he goes now, there's a chance that in three years time, people will forget what a clusterfuck this government has been.

And I say that as someone who is politically homeless. I'd love to see a new independent party emerge, because the choices available are dreadful!

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 25/01/2022 12:50

This could spectacularly backfire for both Cressida Dick and Boris Johnson as they are both currently about as popular as not very popular things.

Cummings has more evidence. Got to have.

There's only so long the Government can string out a shit-show, even with Dick 'on the case'.

DrunkenKoala · 25/01/2022 12:50

The ministers coming out of number 10 this morning all looked like rabbits in headlights. The only one wanting to speak was Jacob RM (saying how great Boris is), the rest couldn’t get away quick enough.

I thought Sue Grey was handing everything over to the Met and that was it for her?

Sheabutterisdelish · 25/01/2022 12:53

That utterly drivel Rees Mogg was blithering, they make me so angry - brilliant leadership dear god

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 25/01/2022 12:54

I think there is pressure within the party to keep Boris on until closer to the next election and then dump him nearer that time. So whoever is new leader won't be in post long enough for the public to become disillusioned with him before the election. Let's face it it will probably be Rishi Sunak. I can imagine the public being caught up in the "yay Rishi" feeling and being fucking stupid enough to vote the Tories in for yet another term.

They are fucking unelectable at the moment that's for sure, and the people with the most skin in the game (leadership contenders) will just want to maximise their chances of continuing to be in power at a general election.

the80sweregreat · 25/01/2022 12:58

Boris Johnson probably has Dick by her short and curlies. She sounded fed up to the back teeth already and it's not even open yet.
The government are lying low life mobsters any way , they will wriggle out of this no doubt about it.
The fines will be met by Tory donors and life will go on. If Putin doesn't start WW 3 that is :(
Depressing isn't the word

Poetrypatty · 25/01/2022 13:06

I agree WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles I'm sure that is their strategy

Yes confidence in the Met Police is lowest it's been for a long time too.

Don’t underestimate Sue.
She’s not a lady to be sidelined.
Nor is she someone you’d ever want to cross.
She’ll relish this task.

BruceAndNosh · 25/01/2022 13:37

According to BBC, the Government can't publish bits of the report that might form part of any police investigation, but they CAN publish bits that aren't of interest to the police.
So next week, they will present a redacted report that says THIS was ok and THAT was OK.
And conveniently not be able to present what is under the redactions which say THIS WAS POSSIBLY BREAKING THE LAW

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 25/01/2022 13:39

And if things start looking too hairy over on Ukraine border, Boris will hightail it out of here to "spend more time with his family" as he hasn't got the guts to deal with the likes of Putin

Sausagesausagesausage · 25/01/2022 13:44

I think we can all trust the met to do a great job investigating this and hold people to account.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

the80sweregreat · 25/01/2022 14:23

I've just seen a bit of today's briefings in parliament about the Ukraine situation.
Boris Johnson seems very bullish and confident and seems to know his facts and figures quite well ; it's not the performance of a man who feels that he might be moving on anytime soon.
Maybe talking about a possible war , NATO and people wanting to take back land is much more up his street? Plus it's a huge distraction from police inquiries and parties too.
It is also worrying too of course :(
Scary times,

Mayorquimby2 · 25/01/2022 14:32

Looks like they're hoping the met will come back with no charges and they can use that to drown out anything negative in the sue gray report.
It's a hail Mary.

The upside of it is that "I can't answer questions regarding that because I'm being investigated by the police" isn't the defence you really want to be repeating constantly
