Tell me about your crappy neighbours

Mine is an absolute arsehole. He is a crap parent who screams at his kids day and night, sets fire to tyres in his garden for a 'bonfire' he had the audacity to shout at me about leaving the shared gate open calling me a fat re**rd at full volume. Today he's asked me to take a parcel in for him tomorrow as he's in work. Erm no! You don't get to abuse your neighbour and then have them
Do nice things! I won't be taking in his massive parcel of beer he gets every month

Mine stands at the bottom of his garden staring into our house. Just stands and stares. (Totally outing but I've mostly trained him out of this by playing Eminem loudly each time - he is an older gentleman who doesn't look like he listens to rap)

He throws cat shit into our garden

He has threatened to sue me (with no legal basis). Also threatened to sue other neighbor. And the drain man. And the surveyor. And the kitchen company (he is actually suing them!)

RedCandyApple · 20/01/2022 21:44

Mine was a family of 5 living above me in a one bed flat,
My god the Noise was horrendous, I actually celebrated when they moved!

WhoWants2Know · 20/01/2022 22:10

Mine are renting the property next door, which has its septic tank under my garden. The landlords didn't ensure the tank was empty when they moved in, or tell them there was a tank in the garden. So it overflowed.

I informed the tenants, who did nothing. Informed the landlords, who did nothing. They each just kept arguing over who was responsible.

I went to environmental health and after two months they took enforcement action, so that the tank was emptied. Unfortunately it wasn't done properly, and had been left so long that raw sewage had backed up to the house and the pipes were packed.

So after two weeks, I was wading through shit to get to my bins again. More arguing about who was responsible, and finally environmental health stepped in again.

I don't know why it got to me so badly, but I was so upset by the end that both parties were so happy to waste time denying responsibility while I had to deal with their toilet stink in my house. His shit music was the icing on the cake.

Ours have harassed us for months. In many different ways. Thankfully it has stopped now. I'm assuming that's because the police took him in for an interview. Although police helpfully haven't updated me on the outcome of the interview but I'm assuming this has got something to do with its stopped. Still went on for months mind. Damaged my garden.

Even though it's stopped my child is scared of them whenever she hears or sees them which is going to be very problematic when the weather gets milder

It makes me very sad for my child more than me
In fact it makes me disgusted. Why should my child be scared in her own garden. Yet she is cos that's the lasting effect that we're left with!

RaraRachael · 20/01/2022 22:29

Mine are a horrible old retired couple who have verbally abused every single member of our family and, we are sure have damaged our property as well.

Gradually over the years they have fallen out with everybody in the neighbourhood, but don't seem to realise it's them who are the problem.

BookGinnyisbetter · 20/01/2022 23:05

I'm not glad other people have shit neighbours but IM glad it's not just me! He's just a nightmare. I hate him so much. We've made a decision tonight to call 999 every time he starts up from now on.

You can’t call 999 unless it’s immediate danger/emergency.

Call 101 and log it. Do not waste the time of the emergency services over a squabble with your neighbour ffs.
Suzanne999 · 20/01/2022 23:14

Depends what he’s shouting at his kids. I’d take threats to injure or kill enough reason to call 999. And although not a 999 matter, I’m sure there are environmental laws on tyre burning.

AllLopsided · 20/01/2022 23:33

This is outing but he put up a gate over a shared driveway without our permission (legally he needs it). They demanded it was shut and locked every time we went out (they don't live in the house yet, still renovating). I am disabled so getting in and out of car and opening/closing gate are not easy. We took him to court and won. Now he (and his girlfriend who has no financial interest in the house) scream abuse at us every time we go outside. It's upsetting but they are making themselves look like tits.

BookGinnyisbetter · 20/01/2022 23:45

@lynntheyresexswappers he threatened to set our house on fire tonight.. is that an okay reason to waste the resources of the emergency services?

Our former neighbour at our old house who lived round the back from our house thought nothing of letting his dog bark persistently in the garden for long periods of time. It infuriated my dad in particular no end, to the degree he had to log it for the council at their request following him reporting it as noise nuisance and he even tried to get the neighbours to sign a petition to get the said person evicted (I don't know what the outcome was).
At our current house the neighbours next door are lovely but however they put out food for the red kites and it attracted them to using the cars as toilets...

Norgie · 20/01/2022 23:54

Mine is a sex mad woman in her 80s who constantly rattles on about her fanny!!
I do everything in my power to avoid her, but somehow the moment I step out of my house I hear this ' yoo-hoo '

Yep - didn't mention that before though did you 🙄

nancy75 · 20/01/2022 23:57

Mine thinks she staring in a porn film, a very loud one.
Not when her children are there of course, but it’s ok for my child to listen to her.
Her delightful boyfriend has a collection of oversize wood burning bbqs & fire pits, all carefully lined up against the fence to give us maximum smoke inhalation.
They also like loud music and parking over my drive

I live next to an unregistered HMO (have reported countless times). No one speaks English, which has resulted in: zero following of covid rules; no way to explain how refuse services work (resulting in uncollected overflowing bins/mattresses and broken furniture outside house); apparently no understanding of how single yellow lines on road outside work. However, my biggest concern is the safety of those living next door, far too many people, only one bathroom, and only one exit in case of fire.

Dreamstate · 21/01/2022 00:26

On one side I have a retired man on his own, and my living room and bedrooms share the party wall with his. He basically follows me where I am in my house...if I'm in my office room he will be in that room, wheb I go for lunch he will come down for his. I can hear him cos his floorboards are noisy. I thought it was coincidence but I tested it one night when I went to bed he goes to bed in his room that backs onto mine. So I got up once and moved rooms, he then also did it. I mean that's messed up who does that. I cant wait to go back to the office!

On the other side my neighbours are incapable of closing the back door and slam it every time they go to their garden room. It can be much as 20 times in a day yet when their parents are around they suddenly know how to close it Hmm they also talk so loud I know everything about their life. I can be in the furtherst room from say the kitchen yet I can hear them talking.

I basically spend most of my days wearing headphones with music on low just to feel like I have some peace and quiet.

I live alone but I feel like I live with ppl and it does get to me but I try not to let it.

thatonesmine · 21/01/2022 00:33

All this puts my neighbour's penny whistle into perspective ...

LoveFall · 21/01/2022 00:38

I don't know which neighbour, as I live in an apartment, but someone on the same side of the building as my office/studio is smoking pot on their balcony. Twice today I was surrounded with the awful smell of skunk.

I know it wasn't a real skunk even though we have them here as it is too early in the year and real ones actually smell worse.

I have nothing against someone smoking pot, which is legal here, but just not so the smoke wafts into my office.

If caught our building council would fine them. The council is absolutely fanatical about smoking on balconies. But I am not about to tell on anyone for that, even if I knew who it was.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 21/01/2022 00:52

Victorian conversion, two flats ( mine ground floor). Single guy upstairs would often come back very late with his girlfriend and her mates, stomp around at 3.00am, play loud music then go out again. A couple of times, at weekends, his girlfriend was yelling out of the window that he'd locked her in and we should "call the police" (I didn't.). He had post delivered in 2 different names, then accused me of stealing his post, tried to push his way into my flat and smacked me in the face (then I called the police!). They didn't take it further as no witnesses. He disappeared a few weeks later, and when the landlord got access to the flat he said it was like the Marie Celeste, everything just abandoned. He owed rent too.

The worst 4 months ( that was how long he was there) ever. The next tenants were fine but it put me right off my little flat so I sold up.

I now live 50 miles away in a quiet street with lovely neighbours. SmileSmile

MistyGreenAndBlue · 21/01/2022 00:55

Ha! Which neighbours? The arsehole next door who keeps parking across my drive and likes to bang out "tunes" on the walls of an evening?
Or the twat over the back who seems to be running a puppy farm ( yes I have reported but nothing has been done)
His garden is full of kennels and some nights (and days tbf) it sounds like they are holding auditions for The Hound of The Baskervilles.
