OMG just enjoyed it so much. The kid actors were just amazing and I had a weird crush on Scar!

It's years since I've seen it, but I remember it being superb.
Right up there in my top 10 shows Smile

VelvetChairGirl · 15/01/2022 22:44

I am still sad that Disney has gotten away with ripping off Kimba and have not paid a penny to its japanese creators who publicly stated at the time of the Lion kings release that they couldnt take Disney to court for plagiarism as they were a small company that didnt have the money to take on Disney.

I still boycott all things to do with the lion king because of that.

sunnybunnyy · 15/01/2022 22:44

I went to see it a couple of days ago and loved it! I was so surprised at just how amazing it was! All the actors were amazing too

TrumptyDumpty · 15/01/2022 22:44

Glad to read this, we are going to see it next month!

Clutterbugsmum · 15/01/2022 22:47

I agree our children loved. They didn't even realised there were people moving the large animals they were so engrossed with it.

Frazzled2207 · 15/01/2022 22:48

Ah great we are going in November nearly 2 years late after various postponements

CheshireSuburbs · 15/01/2022 22:49

Ive got to rebook it as the show we were supposed to see was cancelled last month.

Teaseall · 15/01/2022 22:49

I took my niece twenty odd years ago. We went to the rainforest cafe, I think it was called beforehand, which was a total rip off but she loved it at 5 and I loved it. It was a good day out.

Happy memories, and yes the show was great too.

Kitkat151 · 15/01/2022 22:49

I last saw it 11 years ago.....it was good but no better than many other west end shows I have seen

JustBkind · 15/01/2022 22:50

It is an amazing theatrical production. My only gripe is that the opening song moves you more than the end and it should be the other way around. Still loved it and would watch it again tomorrow!

MeredithGreyishblue · 15/01/2022 22:51

Oh it really is. I saw it in South Africa the first time - incredible!
I only have to hear the first rumblings of the opening noises of Circle of Life and I'm like a box of cornflakes! Grin

imamearcat · 15/01/2022 22:51

@Clutterbugsmum my 4 year old son announced (in a quiet part, loudly) 'mummy I know it's really people in consumes!'Grin

I think I enjoyed it more than the kids! So beautiful.

Going Saturday! So looking forward to it!

Flatandhappy · 15/01/2022 22:52

I saw it in Sydney some years ago, I love musicals and we go to a lot - I thought it was one of the best shows I have ever seen. Would love to see it again.

imamearcat · 15/01/2022 22:54

I loved the part with the stampede and you could feel the vibrations in your seat. Young Simba and Nala were just fantastic

PrincessPaws · 15/01/2022 22:56

I really couldn't get on with at all and it's definitely in the 'would not see again' bucket, but I think maybe it's just my brain not being able to look past the heads on top of heads!

hangrylady · 15/01/2022 23:06

Yanbu it's brilliant

Thatsplentyjack · 15/01/2022 23:08

We went the January before lockdown. It was amazing!

MinglingFlamingo · 15/01/2022 23:10

I loved it! Saw it 20 odd years ago and I still
Remember being absolutely in awwww of the puppetry. I don't remember the story As such but I remember the animals

Haveyoubrushedyourteeth · 15/01/2022 23:10

@princesspaws exactly that! It didn't do anything for me at all.

Itonlytakesonetree · 15/01/2022 23:17

Was really disappointed when I saw it! The beginning was wonderful and I was so excited, having looked forward to it for ages. But the rest of it did not do anything for me and then 7yo DD fell asleep she was so bored.

imamearcat · 15/01/2022 23:18

I saw it in New York a few years ago and hated it. But I was pissed! Loved it so much more in London with kids.

PrincessConsuelaBananahamm0ck · 15/01/2022 23:19

I first went about 20 years ago, musicals weren't really my thing at the time. I was completely taken aback by my reaction to the first few minutes, found myself welling up. Loved it. Have seen it again in recent years, this time on Broadway while holidaying in New York. I love musicals now and it's all because of the Lion King.

puffyisgood · 15/01/2022 23:20

it's ok. there are some pretty cheap tickets knocking around ATM since the centre of London is so dead.

FusionChefGeoff · 15/01/2022 23:24

@puffyisgood where would one find cheap tickets?? I'd love to take DC after seeing it myself 10 years ago but the prices for four have always put me off!
