Effing DP... AIBU to get revenge? If so...what?

I had to get up very, very early this morning - very dark and very cold outside. I needed to defrost my car windows using warm water but because it was dark I didn't immediately notice the driver's side window was completely wound down. Water went all over driver's seat which I had to then sit on to drive to work - didn't have time to run back indoors to get a towel or something to sit on.
DP was the last one to use the car yesterday afternoon so he must have failed to shut the window. He moans if I leave windows slightly open during summer, parked for ten mins in a supermarket car park [sceptical].
So wise MNers - revenge or just soak it up? Knickers have only just dried out Blush

Revenge!

Is the seat dry now? If not could you come up with some reason he needs to use the car. But dont tell him the seat is wet and let his pants get wet.

Jayaywhynot · 13/01/2022 13:11

This heinous crime & the revenge needs a good coat of thinking about, it needs to be good 🤔
I'm watching closely for tips 😂

tanstaafl · 13/01/2022 13:12

Big shopping bags can be used as a waterproof barrier.
(Left window down and it rained overnight Blush)

Hmm.. possibly.. I shall investigate later on!

Unfortunately he had done the shopping yesterday (the reason why he had the car!) and all the bags were in the locked house.

YABU - you shouldn’t be defrosting windows with warm water anyway.

AsanteSana · 13/01/2022 13:30

Slight tangent, but using warm water on a frozen/frosted windscreen is really asking for trouble - thermal shock can cause windscreens to crack or weaken.

The revenge requires further thought

Ebananascroogey · 13/01/2022 13:33

Don't suppose you're menopausal & having hot flushes by any chance OP? I'm thinking a strategically placed very cold water bottle with a loose stopper that gushes water all over his side of the bed just as he's dropping off! Grin

londonmummy1966 · 13/01/2022 13:34

I'd make the punishment fit the crime - fillet all his boxers out of the laundry and either not wash them so he ended up with no clean pants or put them all in a bucket of napisan so he had no dry pants.....

Moretodo · 13/01/2022 13:35

Bread in his coat pockets or shoes.

Always got a great result for me Grin

AryaStarkWolf · 13/01/2022 13:36

How did you not have 2 minutes to run inside and get a towel to sit on?! I can't believe you chose to sit on a wet seat and go to work with a wet arse instead Grin

itwasntaparty · 13/01/2022 13:39

Why on earth didn't you go and get something to sit on?!

verytiredofbeingshoutedat · 13/01/2022 13:41

Ahh revenge... you could think of a deliciously minor inconvenience for him...

Or you could say - "I am disappointed you left the drivers side car window open last night over night after using the car
It caused me immense problems this morning" and walk away

I do like a good 'I'm disappointed you did (something stupid)..' outcome as when said quietly without any high emotions it really hits the mark!!!

Billybagpuss · 13/01/2022 13:41

Matter of interest is it a ford? They have an automatic window thingy that’s easy to activate by mistake so it might not be his fault. My DDs window was completely down the other day and honestly in this weather would he have had it down on purpose?

DartmoorChef · 13/01/2022 13:42

If the window was open , you would notice that before you threw water at it, because there would be no iced up glass to see....

warm water is absolutely fine. Hot water is less so.

and in this case, if the OP had used de-icer , that would have been sprayed all over the inside of the car.

5foot5 · 13/01/2022 13:51

Not the point of the thread but I prefer to use a scraper. Trouble with the warm water method is that it freezes again so you still get a thin layer of ice that seems even harder to shift. Scraping is just as quick

CurzonDax · 13/01/2022 13:52

Revenge - place his underwear in some cold water, so he has to wait for them to dry out tomorrow, just as you had to today.

Unless he wants to apologise with flowers/chocolates/another gift of your liking.

minou123 · 13/01/2022 14:28

I have another idea, bit it depends how cold it is where you live.
Get his underwear, run them in cold water and leave them outside to dry.
Hopefully it'll be cold enough that they freeze hard.
Please see video for tips Grin

I mean this will only work if she does this to every pair of underwear he has or if he only has the one pair Grin
EbonanzaScrooge · 13/01/2022 14:31

Gently unstitch the crotch area of his trousers so when he bends down they burst

Pumpkinstace · 13/01/2022 14:37

Was it his fault you hadn't left enough time to get a towel?

Was the lack of time the reason you were using warm water?

I don't think this is your DPs fault. It would be obvious to me if a window was down on a frosty car, even in the dark.
