Is anyone listening to Danny Robins’ Uncanny podcast? Thought I’d start a discussion thread if there isn’t one already. Favourite case so far?

Ooh yes please!

The Hanging Room was brilliant.

What did you think of the Highland walkers one? I want to believe it so badly but something about it makes me unsure.

Leah2005 · 12/01/2022 20:16

Tell me more - is it creepy? (I won't listen if it is Smile)

WheelieBinPrincess · 12/01/2022 20:17

Yes it is very creepy!

Leah2005 · 12/01/2022 20:19

@WheelieBinPrincess oh - not for me then Smile

NannyR · 12/01/2022 20:24

I've been really enjoying this - not too keen on the UFO episodes, thought the Brooklyn poltergeist was good. The Highlands one was very creepy, but I felt the guy was embellishing the story a lot.

If you like this podcast, the Battersea poltergeist podcast by Danny Robbins is really good too.

CindyLouWho1 · 12/01/2022 20:33

I started listening to The Battersea Poltergeist last night! I think they’re making it into a TV show this year?

The UFO case I’d heard before so I wasn’t especially interested in that one. I really enjoyed the Highlands one but I think there could be non-supernatural explanations for everything the people experienced. For me today’s episode is the creepiest.

Does anybody have any ghost experiences they want to share?

Today's episode reminded me a bit of The Shining with the dining room full of people!

CindyLouWho1 · 12/01/2022 20:40

Yes exactly! I’d love to stay in that house!

Me! I'm on E6 atm. I listen to it when I go to bed, in the dark. It's great!

AffIt · 12/01/2022 20:56

I love this! Danny Robbins is a great presenter, I love his energy and enthusiasm.

I don't really believe in ghosts or anything woo, but I like a good story and these are good stories!

I enjoyed the UFO one, @NannyR - I liked the image of the bluff, burly copper. Grin

ohsheglows · 12/01/2022 21:29

I love this series! Has anyone seen his play 2.22, a ghost story?

AndAllOurYesterdays · 12/01/2022 21:32

Some of the stories have made my blood run cold. The one about the haunted halls of residence is my favourite so far.

MorphCode · 12/01/2022 21:33

I love this podcast. The stories are so interesting. And, oddly, on another thread today someone told a story very similar to one on Uncanny.

WheelieBinPrincess · 12/01/2022 21:49

@ohsheglows yes!! Really enjoyed it, saw the old cast with Lily Allen.

Housechaos · 13/01/2022 09:48

It creeps the hell out of me but always listen to it. I had a really odd experience years ago and since then it's left me puzzled...but I don't actually believe in ghosts, as such.

overnightangel · 17/01/2022 13:55

The one about room 611 is my favourite so far …. “Bloody hell Ken!!”
I’m also a bit suspicious about the credibility of the one about the highland bothy, something about the chap makes me think he’s got his own issues more so than anything else, seems a bit odd and quite sad actually that it’s become the all encompassing thing in his life, if that makes sense. Loving the podcast though

saveforthat · 17/01/2022 14:03

I love this and I thought it was great when he let his children listen to some of it and they repeated "bloody hell Ken" which is exactly what typical kids would pick up on. I was a bit surprised he let them listen to any of it as I find it quite scary. I listen on Sounds at sunset and light loads of candles. Favourite episode was last week's. I agree the Scottish highlands one doesn't ring true.

HappyDays40 · 17/01/2022 14:03

Love it. Especially Luibeilit in Scotland a relative had similar experiences years ago and loved room 611 to. It lands each Wednesday. Did anyone listen to the Battersea poltergeist podcast that he did....... terrifying.

AuntMasha · 17/01/2022 14:05

Really enjoying this series. I love scaring the bejesus out of myself.

AuntMasha · 17/01/2022 14:08

There’s another podcast about ghosts by Danny Robins called ‘Haunted’ which was broadcast in 2017.

DoctorSnortles · 17/01/2022 14:41

Love Danny Robins. Battersea Poltergeist, Haunted and Uncanny are all fantastic. I am highly sceptical but still bloody love it all. Love it when dear old Ciaran OKeefe pops up - I was a huge fan in his Most Haunted days.

overnightangel · 17/01/2022 22:23

I’ve just played the start of Ep12: Fatal Collision; and they do an update of the Scottish Bothy one at the start of that episode about trying to get in touch with other people who visited there with the main protagonist, very very sad 😞

MostTacticalNameChange · 17/01/2022 22:45

I've found the Hannah Betts haunted house one the least convincing so far. Nightly repetitive disturbances and 20 years to get them verified but didn't. And her turns of phrase felt scripted bit I guess she is a journalist.

In the model in New York one, she sounded so scared - I'd love them to track down the neighbours and roommates.

Love that they do updates too- 611 just kept getting scarier!

The Todmorden one sounded very convincing but they left stuff out about the PC that you can find online and makes you think again. So frustrating we'll never really know.

Bloody hell, Ken.

StarryGazeyEyes · 18/01/2022 10:38

When I first came across this I didn't know what I was listening to, so assumed it was a scripted drama - some of the witnesses sound almost too articulate. I was least convinced by My Best Friend's Ghost and Fatal Collision - I looked up the press reports on the incident and the driver drove up onto the pavement and deliberately hit the two lads, which doesn't tally with where the witness was on the road and the feelings she experienced. Some of the others have been much more compelling, but always leave us with more questions than answers.

NannyR · 18/01/2022 12:41

I thought that fatal collision was the least convincing too - I thought that she had probably fallen asleep for a micro second behind the wheel and bumped the kerb and her brain translated that into what could have happened. The fact that there was an accident in the same place was a pure coincidence.
