That hard, upper stomach fat that sticks out

Does anyone have it?
Will losing weight ever get rid of it?

I put on a couple of stone after birth of my Dd, it’s been 3 years now so no more excuses, I want rid and back to the way I was.
Been cutting back for a month now and notice my waist slimming slightly etc, but I can’t see how this upper stomach, sort of hard fat will go away? Does anyone else have it? Really makes me look pregnant

That sounds like bloating and not fat

Heboughtthemforhimselfnotme · 07/01/2022 21:37

@afizzysweet It’s quite firm though?

Dreambigger · 07/01/2022 21:37

Yes i had this! it will go away but only with lots of dieting/exercise....calorie deficit basically..it's sooo stubborn and will cling on to the bitter end. Once I got rid of it although I gained a few pounds on and off it never came back to the same extent. U can do it !

Dreambigger · 07/01/2022 21:38

Also recommend pilates!

BudgeUpAnne · 07/01/2022 21:45

Does it stick out in the morning when you first wake up? If not, then it will be bloating I think

Garman · 07/01/2022 21:47

Are you sure it's not diastasis recti?

Heboughtthemforhimselfnotme · 07/01/2022 21:50

@BudgeUpAnne It’s always like this 😫looks awful

OP posts:
Heboughtthemforhimselfnotme · 07/01/2022 21:50

@Garman I’m not sure 🤔 think just fat

OP posts:
Heboughtthemforhimselfnotme · 07/01/2022 21:51

@Dreambigger It’s not flabby, just feels like it won’t ever go 🤷🏻‍♀️

I have pcos and slim everywhere, good bmi and a huge pregnant like stomach, depressing! I'm considering lipo to get rid of it. But what's helped it slim down (but not go) is fairly low carb and a decent mix of weights and cardio for me.

ninnynonny · 07/01/2022 21:57

Yep! I have that. I eat well, run, and have always been super slim. Menopause hit and now I have the upper fat nonsense along with the rotund tummy. Its really depressing

MilduraS · 07/01/2022 22:00

Absolutely yes! I put it down to aging because I've always gained weight on my lower stomach and thighs. It disappeared when I lost 3st. At the time I hadn't realised i even had 3st to lose as I was dodging the scales.

tootyfruitypickle · 07/01/2022 22:04

I have this , and I have small boobs so I can't wear a dress as I swear that bit goes out further than my boobs. My actually tummy is ok. Weird getting old shit

Leftbutcameback · 07/01/2022 22:05

I have this and hate it. Started about two years ago. It makes bras feel uncomfortable, and although I'm only just overweight (based on BMI) it makes me look horrible.

I've read it can be due to stress.

Andtheyalllookjustthesame · 07/01/2022 22:18

How much alcohol do you drink?

Do you have any gynaecological issues?

Heboughtthemforhimselfnotme · 07/01/2022 22:21

@Andtheyalllookjustthesame I’ve not drank for two years, but had it before when I drank an average amount.
Had fertility problems all my life and suspected but not confirmed endo/hormone imbalances that they’ve never been able to get to the bottom of

Michellebops · 07/01/2022 22:21

I have it, it's absolutely awful. Rock hard compared to my c section pouch which is flabby.

I've always had it, gets worse with carbs/bread products.

I do also have diasis recti following my first pregnancy 6 years ago

Heboughtthemforhimselfnotme · 07/01/2022 22:23

@Michellebops Yes that’s it, that’s why I wonder if it will ever go. If I lose all the weight will it disappear or turn to flab or what

Onynx · 07/01/2022 22:25

Oh god I thought it was just me. It gives me a sort of pregnant look in certain dresses🤬 I hate it. I've also discovered it gets in the way of painting toenails. I'm 44, suspect peri and definitely very stressed but I suspect that's peri related ....

Heboughtthemforhimselfnotme · 07/01/2022 22:28

Looking at pictures online, it doesn’t look like diasis recti. I will take a pic tomorrow and try to post
God, it’s awful 😢

Heboughtthemforhimselfnotme · 07/01/2022 22:29

@Onynx I can definitely look pregnant at times, I just stick right out from the side sometimes.

OP posts:
CatNamedEaster · 07/01/2022 22:29

If it's diastasis recti then it could end up looking worse if you lose weight because the tummy domes so if there's less fat around to disguise the doming shape of it, it will proportionally look like it's sticking out more.

You'd need to check if there is a gap in the stomach muscles and then try to do specific exercises to try and close the gap.

CCSS15 · 07/01/2022 22:33

I had it as well after the birth of my second. With dieting and pilates it stopped being hard and is now flabby - responds better to dieting now its soft - I still look pregnant though

Michellebops · 07/01/2022 22:38

If I'm lying down And try to pull up into a sit up position, my top tummy peaks into a dome shape. It's not obvious at any other time.

I've had jt confirmed and advise for losing weight and exercise
