That hard, upper stomach fat that sticks out

Does anyone have it?
Will losing weight ever get rid of it?

I put on a couple of stone after birth of my Dd, it’s been 3 years now so no more excuses, I want rid and back to the way I was.
Been cutting back for a month now and notice my waist slimming slightly etc, but I can’t see how this upper stomach, sort of hard fat will go away? Does anyone else have it? Really makes me look pregnant

Google it. It’s “visceral fat”, and it’s the worst for us. And, like any fat, diet and exercise. Some women are pear shaped and some are apples. I’m an apple and a cardiac patient, and the two are connected.

Have you had liver screening? It could be fatty liver, which starts because of visceral fat.

ninnynonny · 08/01/2022 08:32

I've been alcohol free for 8 years so would hope it isn't fatty liver! It's actually really making me very stressed. I guess the only thing is to eat little and exercise even more than I am!

Heboughtthemforhimselfnotme · 08/01/2022 11:21

@Andtheyalllookjustthesame @ninnynonny Yes, no alcohol for two years and sparingly when Dd was a newborn and obviously pregnant before that, so a good 4 years barely drinking and wasn’t excessive before. I’m hoping wouldn’t be that 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think I'll get a liver function test just in case (then accept it's age and I have to get fitter!!)

Andtheyalllookjustthesame · 08/01/2022 12:26

Non-alcoholic fatty disease is to do with fat not alcohol, so being a low or no drinker doesn't mean it's not liver related

@Andtheyalllookjustthesame Great 😫

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 08/01/2022 14:20

Yeah mine goes when I lose weight

gunnersgold · 08/01/2022 14:29

Some people gain weight in weird places , if you are at your optimum weight it should go ! Maybe it will be the last bit to go but I'm sure it will!

Mundra · 08/01/2022 15:52

How thin are you? I have rib flare under my norks, before it nips in to my waist- are you sure it's not your ribcage?

lljkk · 08/01/2022 18:03

I don't know what you gals are talking about. Can someone link to a pic?

Hotyogahotchoc · 08/01/2022 18:06

When you say it's hard that makes me think it's not fat

ninnynonny · 08/01/2022 23:33

I've been wondering if i may have a hernia to be honest :(

Leftbutcameback · 10/01/2022 18:46

@Mundra what's a rib flare? I find bras very uncomfortable under my breasts

FriendshipsAreHardForMe · 10/01/2022 18:48

I was a completely different shape after having my third child and assumed that was just the way it was given I normally lose weight easily after birth.

Anyway, I decided to join slimming world to lose the last stone and I lost it quickly and my whole shape changed back to normal.

It WILL go if you lose the weight. I found slimming world easy, give it a try!
