For the first time in what feels like weeks and weeks, it's just me. Bliss. Kids at school, husband at work and me here in my little office 'working' and enjoying mumsnet the peace Brew

Haha me too except it's my day off and I'm stuck in waiting for a delivery. The silence is amazing!

Whatayear81 · 07/01/2022 12:47

Single parent
I get it quite a bit
And I love love love it

To the extent I can’t ever imagine living with another man again because that precious time would be restricted!

Me too. Bloke at work, daughter at work, grandson at Nursery. Cat on my knee, cuppa to hand and Mumsnet :)

Oh I totally get it! I turn 50 this weekend, we're off to the seaside and the DC to the grandparents, yet part of me wishes I could dump the DH somewhere too and just have peace and no conversation for 48 hours 😊

GaspingGekko · 07/01/2022 12:54

I was absolutely looking forward to this bliss.... But the kids were put on home learning for the whole of this week and the school have just announced the same for next week too, sob.

ISaySteadyOn · 07/01/2022 12:55

Lovely. Enjoy it and of course YSNBU.

Oh no!! I'm so sorry! That is awful Cake

@TheHuntingOfTheSarky - you need a positive LFT and dispatch everyone else to grandparents/seaside and enjoy some peace and quiet while you await the PCR result....

Oo I’m jealous. YANBU!

Comedycook · 07/01/2022 13:13

Omg ... don't you love your husband and kids?

Hahaha, just kidding....sounds blissful Grin

Laiste · 07/01/2022 13:17

Oh i agree OP.

I have a big family and i love them dearly but having the house back to myself (and having the living stay not looking like a cross between a branch of Costa and a toy shop for more than 10 minutes) has been nice this week.

SkankingMopoke · 07/01/2022 13:31

I had this yesterday. Just me and the cat. It was bliss after 4 weeks of never being alone (catching covid & isolating, followed by school hols). I love having the family home and spending time with them, but desperately need my own space and quiet too. I WOH on my own, and clients often comment because I have no radio on for company: No thanks! Just me and my own thoughts without continuous interruption 😌

What a nice way to enjoy a milestone birthday!
Agadorsparticus · 07/01/2022 13:35

I've been looking forward to today for the last few weeks. It's heaven. Work is up to date, chilling out with a box set until 3pm. absolute bliss.

RedCandyApple · 07/01/2022 13:36

Alone as well, I’m a lone parent so my kids are with me all the time unless they are at school, so been looking forward to them going back so I can get a few hours peace.

LadyCleathStuart · 07/01/2022 13:38

My DC aren't back in school until Monday but I cannot wait! Will still have DH here though as we both wfh but can deal with that as he doesn't talk the ear off of me about the Avengers or make me play LOL vs Barbie vs Disney Princess wars all day.

I'm the same. I've WFH for years, well before covid, and I never ever have radio or music on. I love the peace and quiet. Sadly my husband is the opposite, he needs constant background noise (to block out the thoughts, I say). Both of us WFH over the last 2 years has been interesting.

Same, DC at school DH at work so just me and the kitten. Having a nice cuppa and watching tv before collecting DC.

JaneJeffer · 07/01/2022 14:33

I haven't had a day to myself for so long Sad

runningfromtheoutlaws · 07/01/2022 14:35

I desperately need this, its quite nice now as just me and Dh and hes working

CheshireChat · 07/01/2022 14:39

I was supposed to have about 30 min today, but DS was sent home from school and my mum (we live together) cancelled going out too Sad.

Realistically I'm being petty as I'm upstairs alone working on my CV, but I know they're there Grin.

Waftypants · 07/01/2022 14:41

YADNBU. I feel exactly the same. It's been lovely, only an hour left til they all arrive home again.
AIBU to look forward to Monday ?Grin

Queenie72 · 07/01/2022 14:44

We have builders in at the moment and I am literally fantasising about when they are gone and be able to sit in a quiet house with just my cuddly new kittens purring!
