I have a 24 hour ban now on Facebook, already permanently banned on Twitter.

the reasons, I told someone he was a making an arse of himself, (apparently thats bullying) said arse was calling vegans thick and told me to "eat poo until I can taste it" and go F myself". but apparently I am the one bullying.

and 10 months earlier (but apparently this is counted now towards the ban) I used hate speech in a reply on a political thread saying that johnson said he would rip up the human rights act and create a British bill of rights and if the British people are stupid if they think it would be in their favour, decades of tory governments should have given the proles a clue.

btw I am british and I do think we are stupid, thats not hate speech its a fact, we have consistently voted to inflict misery on ourselves for decades, as if we never want anything to get better we never vote for the parties that offer hope, optimism, change.

anyway I have come to the conclusion social media isnt social at all, its just an advertisement platform they dont want any input more then a few silly emojis. I miss the internet how it used to be full of forums, where people could talk.

where did all the forums go? do you think we should bring back more forums separate to social media

You're in the wrong place then

Diddums

OhGiveUp · 04/01/2022 09:44

There are forums out there if you look for them.
The problem with FB is that it's run by the biggest hypocrite going, who allows the opposite of what he says to happen.
It's when you manage to get a whole FB page banned because they deem what you say as offensive, like I did, is when you know you've made it.

SilverHairedCat · 04/01/2022 09:46

It's not that easy to get banned let alone permabanned on these sites. I suspect your behaviour has been a lot worse than your OP claims.

MorningStarling · 04/01/2022 09:47

Being of a certain race or nationality doesn't mean you can't use hate speech or be racist towards that race or nationality.

SlashBeef · 04/01/2022 09:49

You're a grown adult and you're getting banned from multiple social media platforms because you can't debate like a grown up. You're the problem. I know plenty of people that have rational debates on social media and don't end up resorting to insults and getting bans. By all means start up your own forum. It would be interesting.

BooksAndGin · 04/01/2022 09:51

Your the problem. Facebook doesn't ban unless you say some pretty crude things.
Maybe you should just come off it?

girlmom21 · 04/01/2022 09:53

Agree with the others - you don't get bans for something as simple as the disagreements you've mentioned.

elelel · 04/01/2022 09:55

Because you got a ban?

You can prevent this by not getting involved in things. Post fluffy kittens or what you had for tea on your SM

SilverHairedCat · 04/01/2022 09:57

By the way, I'm a member of several forums. There are plenty of them out there. None of them would tolerate name calling, racism or petty arguing either and are a lot more strongly moderated than MN.

Maybe you'd enjoy Reddit and shouting into the abyss?

FatOaf · 04/01/2022 10:04

No shit, Sherlock.

How does everyone think it's paid for? Has nobody watched The Social Dilemma. As an ex Facebook employee stated in that documentary, "If you're not paying for the product, you are the product."

VelvetChairGirl · 04/01/2022 10:05

Shows your wrong then because I got a warning for using the word Tardis, before and got a spam warning for saying "we need a shop in the uk".

just because you haven't gotten in trouble yet doesnt mean your immune, funny how I have been on Facebook for over 10 years but the warnings and bans only started a few months ago when I started following feminist pages.

same applies to twitter 7 years on it, then getting pulled up every five mins when I started talking about womens rights and reporting mens threats of violence towards other women.

I cant seem to find forums when I google for them.

Unfortunately these days stating certain scientific facts is deemed by some as hate speech. Don't know about social media, now it's more like antisocial media!!
Its shame these platforms seem to be incapable of preventing children from being groomed by paedophiles, don't you think?

I've used the word Tardis loads and never had a warning, someone's telling porkies! Grin

That said genuinely just delete it. It's a load of crap. Very anti social and bad for mental health.

I am thinking certain people are deliberately reporting everything those they dont agree with say, to try to get them banned, a pile on as it were. I dont think the social media platforms take much notice I think its mostly automated.

Stop looking for attention online. Problem solved.

girlmom21 · 04/01/2022 10:21

It's not the content you're following that's getting you banned. It's your behaviour.

Facebook often refuses to remove offensive content. If they're regularly warning you you're doing something wrong.

Theunamedcat · 04/01/2022 10:21

I got banned for posting a picture of my son dancing in his pants and a few months earlier I told someone they were nasty and got reported for bullying and banned for that for 24 hours the picture took me out for 36 hours im now facing a life ban if I "violate" again

I've challenged them previously but nothing changes I still get petty banned because I've been flagged now so I've downloaded all my photos and I'm creating a new profile to keep in touch with my friends who arnt local and I will try and learn not to tell people who protect paedophile they are nasty

Oh my days. Shock

Yep definitely time to leave Facebook! Usually they ban for swear words or crude terms if you get my drift but that's just ridiculous.

Reddit is okay. Not the best but it's okay.

Where did you post this thread then if all the forums have gone?

Mumsnet is a London-based internet forum, created in 2000 by Justine Roberts for discussion between parents of children and teenagers.

An Internet forum, or message board, is an online discussion site where people can hold conversations in the form of posted messages. They differ from chat rooms in that messages are often longer than one line of text, and are at least temporarily archived. Also, depending on the access level of a user or the forum set-up, a posted message might need to be approved by a moderator before it becomes publicly visible.

and did you appeal?

I had a post selling eggs removed!? completely bonkers

Deadringer · 04/01/2022 10:29

Facebook really isn't the place for reasoned debate. I would never post my opinions, political or otherwise on there, too many crazies. As a pp said, pictures of kittens and what you had for dinner are more the order of the day.

It wont work, the profile wont, you cant have two on the go they log the IP addresses. so if your logging into both without resetting your network they know its you.
