To ask someone to work of the full time equivalent of my salary

Because I can’t bloody figure it out and no matter how many times and methods I try the figure I come up with does not match what my manager told me it was!! So I’m wondering if they’ve got it wrong?

There’s loads of online calculators to work out a pro rate of full time but can’t find the reverse and the formulas I’ve read to use haven’t helped me either.

Anyhoo if I currently earn 30k doing 37.5 hours a week over 39 weeks a year what would I be earning if I was full time?

Presuming your weekly hours remain the same and you just increase to a 52 week year, I make it at £40,000.

30,000 / 52 x 39 gives you £22,500

Less tax at 20%

My guess is around £1500 a month over 12 months

39 weeks is 75% of 52 weeks so your 52 week equivalent salary would be £40k.

Unless holiday allowance is being factored in somehow. Do you get holiday allowance during those 39 weeks?

Just a general question, roughly you work for 3/4 of the year, so I'd expect your full time salary to be around 40K.

If it's a school based job and you're not allowed holiday in term time, it will be more complicated than that though.

I'm assuming that the weeks you don't work don't include any paid leave, and that you're talking about 40 hours a week as full time. In which case, you'd earn 30,000 (50/39) (40/37.5) = 43,243 (to the nearest £).

Unless your contract pays holiday pay usually 4 weeks? So divide by 52 x 43 weeks?

Yes I get 28 days (pro prorata)

28 days but I’m term time only so it’s all just factored in somewhere along the line!

Can they give you an absolute hourly rate, to make it clear?

If you were working 39 weeks per year, you would be paid for 39 weeks plus holiday entitlement.

(I'm on a 41 week - term time plus two weeks, contract but get paid for 45.8 weeks to include annual leave.)

So I would guess £30k for 44.6 weeks (adding on statutory 28 days holiday), increased to 52 weeks would be £34,978.

Are you in a school? The 13 weeks off include some holiday pay, usually just statutory, so as posters above said that needs to be factored in. So your current pay probably covers about 43-44 weeks a year.

Sorry to be clear about the holidays I don’t take any leave during my 39 weeks so I just have school holidays off. But my pay factors in 28 days holiday pay. Good I’m confusing myself 🙈

And I should learn to check my figures. Obviously there's 52 weeks in a year. And also I stuck that in my stupid phone calculator wrong! I now make it £42,667.

I worked it out as £34615

I get 7 weeks holiday/year so I’ve used that as a standard (it might not be!).

You get £30k for 39 weeks. If you were working 45 weeks a year you would be paid £34615 (30k x 0.867)

It means you’re not paid for holidays though which seems a bit odd. Might be worth double checking with your manager in case he/she’s used the same method I have and forgot to in included Holiday pay.

So your £30 salary is for 39 weeks (worked) plus 5 weeks and 3 days (holiday pay)?

I work 39 weeks (term time) although I get paid for 45 (5 weeks holiday plus public holidays) so your bosses estimation is probably about right
