Can’t ice skate

Went Ice skating . Tried my best . Partner making comment , u look ridiculous etc. I said ah they do really good food here . Also a comment saying if you were back in the office they would call u a dustbin. I only had a tuna pasta for lunch . By 6pm i was hungry . Feel like I have no confidence

If you would LIKE to learn how to skate, your local rink has lessons and you can book private lessons for about £12 for 15. SOOOOO worth it. Just to be able to go round in circles with a bit of confidence is nice - I only learned at 40.

If you don't want to know how to skate, then your partner can just fuck off then, because it's neither here nor there, is it?

If he is always such an utter prat, your new year's resolution can be "enjoy life being single and maybe meet somebody nice".

Judging by when I went ice skating last week, 80% of people can’t skate.

I can ice skate. I play ice hockey. Most rental skates are blunt as fuck. I went skating at NHM with DS last week and I couldn’t skate in the rental skates at all (so blunt I could do a 720 pirouette with two feet and completely flat blades, as in, I just pushed off the side and span round and round, which means the blades were not gripping the ice at all). So it may well not be you.

Also your DP is an arsehole.

Nope, there are adult-only lessons. I started in my 30s, was by no means the oldest.

I can't ice skate. When I went with dh, I kept falling and couldn't even get up by myself. My dh tried to help me and never made any comments regarding my serious lack of balance. Your dp is a dickhead.

When I was 47 I challenged myself to learn how to swim and ice skate. I am now a massive swimmer but I’ve not taken the plunge on skating.

Need to do that soon for my own self confidence. Swimming changed my lufe

Have you ever been skating before ? If not or if only a few times, then its not surprising you can;t skate - its something that takes a while to learn, you need encouragement and cheering on when you manage a little bit more each time, not mocking.
Your DP sounds like an absolute tool.
One of the first dates I went on with my (now X) husband was ice skating, He'd never been, I was a reasonable skater because I grew up near a rink. He pushed off shot across the ice arms waving wildly, shouted 'I'm a natural' and promptly fell on his arse. We had a lot of fun and laughs about it. That's what any activity or sport is for - to enjoy yourself and learn at your own pace. If he making it unenjoyable for you and you'd like to learn then go with a friend or on your own.

No idea what his problem with your pasta salad was - like I said he sounds like a total arse.

I had ice-skating lessons in my late 30s. Didn't turn me into Jane Torville but made me confident enough to enjoy it. I'm a fat twat who eats too much, but I'm buggered if anyone but me is allowed to say so.
