Days 6 and 7 testing

Has anyone actually been negative on these days since the announcement?

I feel like the government have just thrown us a bone to shut everyone up, knowing it's not actually likely to happen.

Both my parents are still strong positive on both days after getting their hopes up they might be able to salvage some of Christmas 😞

DSS was (though still positive on day 5) He got to come home for Christmas Smile. A work colleague of mine was too. Both young and very mildly ill both of them. Older people tend to get iller so I guess take longer to recover. Hope they get well soon OP

Porcupineintherough · 26/12/2021 08:41

I'm hoping ds2 will be one of these - its day 6 for him tomorrow and he's pretty much recovered, had done by day 4 tbh.

NotSorry · 26/12/2021 08:43

My Dd is day 6 tomorrow, we’re hopeful, I’ll update tomorrow

WutheredOut · 26/12/2021 08:45

Yes. Tested negative Thursday 16th then positive Friday 17th, very faint line on Wednesday 22nd then no line at all Thursday or Friday and nothing since
Had barely any symptoms though and only tested because DD has tested positive the Monday before

FabricedeSauveterre · 26/12/2021 08:45

DD2(11) was - but before the govn announcement.

winefortea · 26/12/2021 08:45

DC was, still showed positive on day 5 but was negative by day 6.

HipHopBanzai · 26/12/2021 08:46

DH tested negative on day 7 (back in the days of 10 day isolation). He felt fine again by then so did a LFT out of interest. He'd had a blazing positive LFT before his PCR. As he'd tested negative, he decided to join us back in the house rather than staying in the bedroom for the rest of his isolation.

StormBaby · 26/12/2021 08:47

We all felt better, but we are all still positive today on day 9!

R0tational · 26/12/2021 08:47

DS was still positive (vv faint) Day 8.

riiichteeabiiscuit · 26/12/2021 08:47

Feeling hopeful for the rest of the family then, just so fed up after a bad year for our family that this happened 😞

How are you counting your days? From official PCR result or first symptoms? I had negative LFT for 2 days of feeling ropey then got a positive and then PCR the day after ?🤷‍♀️

BendingSpoons · 26/12/2021 08:47

Might depend when their 10 days started. Family member tested due to being a contact. She was getting negative lfts but pcr was positive. She didn't feel at all ill for about 5 days and then felt a but off. Yesterday was day 9 and she still had a faint positive lft. If she hadn't known she was a contact, she would only be on about day 4, so quite possibly negative by day 6. It's hard, their Christmas was off, then possibly back on, then off again.

percypig84 · 26/12/2021 08:48

DS and BIL were both negative by these days. Unfortunately we’re in NI and the rule doesn’t apply here, we only did DS’s to decide if he could play with his brother yesterday, he’s still isolating!

From the day of their positive lateral flow test, prior to their PCR. They didn't have symptoms at the time of testing it was just precautionary as they were identified as contacts.

We're desperate for dh to be lucky and test negative! He's on day 5 today

Your 10 days count for having covid starts on the first day of symptoms or first positive test. If you're already isolating following a known contact exposure that means the clock starts again when you get symptoms or test positive. So your friend is only on day 4 and needs to isolate at least another 3 days.
Purplegurple · 26/12/2021 08:59

Me!!! Yesterday was day 6 and got a negative. Today is day 7 and got a negative!

TenoringBehind · 26/12/2021 09:00

Ds was negative on day 5

Tilly28 · 26/12/2021 09:01

Not here :-/ my DS was negative on day 9. DD1 negative day 8. Now waiting on my DD2 who is day 7 today... was positive yesterday though but hoping today's will be negative so we can try see family tomorrow/Tuesday.

itsgettingweird · 26/12/2021 09:02

My sibling.

Actually wasn't meant to do a test because it hadn't been announced.

But just decided day 5 of isolation when feeling better to do a LFT which was negative. Day 7 of isolation they announced the 2 test rule so he did another and left the house!

He was extremely unwell days 1-4 but suddenly felt much better hence why the random test - possibly isolation boredom 🤣🤣 but it worked well for him!

onemouseplace · 26/12/2021 09:03

Not me, still testing positive on day 6 and 7. I only had a faint positive LFT when I first tested though.

Chosenonesneakymincepie · 26/12/2021 09:25

Right. So I'm on day 5. Bright 2 lined positive still! Generally feel ok now so I'm hoping it will change by day 7 🙏

Nogoodusername · 26/12/2021 10:02

DC was negative by about day 5. I was still getting strong positives on day 16. Random!

Meggie2008 · 26/12/2021 10:20

Not me, day 8 today and was still positive yesterday.

Nsws2015 · 26/12/2021 10:25

Nope not here, dd15 is day 6 and soooo desperate to go see her dad and grandparents, she was really hopeful her tests might have faded but they're still quite dark. My heart broke for her this morning bless her, she's struggling with being stuck in and I think had got her hopes set on the day 6/7 freedom :( I'm positive too, 2 days after her but still not feeling great so I'm not in any rush to go anywhere!
