Days 6 and 7 testing

Has anyone actually been negative on these days since the announcement?

I feel like the government have just thrown us a bone to shut everyone up, knowing it's not actually likely to happen.

Both my parents are still strong positive on both days after getting their hopes up they might be able to salvage some of Christmas 😞

Yes, DD tested negative yesterday on day 7

Benjaminsniddlegrass · 26/12/2021 10:32

My DSD tested negative yesterday on day 8 so was able to join us for Christmas day!

Accidentgirlfriend · 26/12/2021 10:39

Is this due to the strain of covid ? I caught covid At the beginning of the year and We both had to have a negative test for my partner to return back to work so I went with him to have mine done but I was only on day 9 , back in the days when you had to isolate for 10 days solid , and I was still showing as positive on day 9 !

chiefcha · 26/12/2021 10:39

DD still faint positive today, day 7.

I do know of people IRL who are not counting their days correctly though. First day of symptoms or day test taken is day 0, and you start counting the next day.

SamMil · 26/12/2021 10:41

My husband was negative on day 6 & 7 so got to come out of isolation on day 7. I'm on day 9 and still a string positive Xmas Angry

SamMil · 26/12/2021 10:42

*strong, not string!

DelurkingAJ · 26/12/2021 10:45

DBIL…was out of isolation just in time for Xmas as a result. He says he was hardly ill (he’s late 20s) and figured it was Omicron.

chiefcha · 26/12/2021 10:58

Interesting point about the strain. If omicron has a shorter incubation period and is a milder illness, maybe it makes sense your body would have lower levels of virus more quickly?

CeeceeBloomingdale · 26/12/2021 11:02

Yes DD qualified for early release although we have chosen to do the full 10 days. She was negative on day 4 but tested again days 6 and 7 as per the new guidelines. We didn’t test between day 0 and 4, she only tested on day 0 as her friend had a positive lateral flow, DD was symptomless so presumably had been infectious without realising before her positive.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 26/12/2021 11:03

At the time Omicron only accounted for 13% of cases in our area so I’m assuming she had delta due to friends symptoms but can’t be sure

Catquestion · 26/12/2021 11:11

I was having negative LFTs while waiting for my PCR result (was still isolating, just testing out of interest). Frustratingly, when I did my LFT on days 6 and 7 they were positive. Today is day 8 and I have my fingers crossed

CuddlyDudley · 26/12/2021 11:40

Da is on day three of isolation and has been doing tests with me for fun. His positive test took forever to show and is very faint compared to day one where it showed fast and was strong. Keeping fingers crossed

MrzClaus · 26/12/2021 12:52

Positive PCR yesterday, symptoms on the 20th (negative antigens and PCR between 20-25th). Negative LFT for both today (day six!). Hopefully tomorrow too!

NotSorry · 28/12/2021 15:23

DD day 6 - negative LFT

Porcupineintherough · 28/12/2021 16:26

Ds2 day 6 positive still but not quite so strong as his first. But not faint.

NotSorry · 29/12/2021 16:03

Day 7 negative - the rest of us have done 7 day testing and we’re all negative too

BeLessMe · 29/12/2021 16:07

Friends DS not negative until day 8

Friend (diff household) not negative until day 11

MrzClaus · 29/12/2021 16:24

Both myself and DH negative days 6 and 7! Been out of isolation now and very happy they changed the rules!

NorfolkEnchance · 29/12/2021 16:36

My 6 year old got first negative today, day 10. And was asymptomatic! 7 year old still strong positive on day 7, also asymptomatic. Didn't pass on to myself or DH though!

SoupDragon · 29/12/2021 16:40

DS was. His day 7 was the day it was announced but I'd asked him to do a test the day before out of curiosity and it was negative so he was finally free (WFH and had no plans to go out anyway but left his room 😂)

Normanpriceisnotarolemodel · 29/12/2021 17:09

DD had negative on Day 6, very faint positive Day 7. Negative day 8.
DS is day 6 today and had weak positive.
I know people who have still been positive on Day 11.

StoneofDestiny · 29/12/2021 18:02

Yes know one 1 who tested day 6 negative, day 7 negative. Nobody in immediate family in same house tested positive.
