1.30am is an unreasonable waking hour

We're used to it as the children have SEN but 1.30am is an unreasonable getting up for the day time, right? 😭

He won't go back to sleep either. I'm looking for a bit of moral support or commiserations or something.

Yes. Unreasonable.... unless you go to sleep at 6 or 7 pm when would be 6 or 7 hours. Getting up at 1.30 gonna make the day hella long!!

immersivereader · 25/12/2021 02:35

Unreasonable. Needs to go back to bed.

Amammai · 25/12/2021 02:36

Let him watch something on a phone/tablet so you can go back to sleep?

SoniaFouler · 25/12/2021 02:37

What time did he go to bed? You’re awake so i’m not sure you can call it unreasonable tbh

NotSoSkinnyNow · 25/12/2021 02:44

We're awake again here too 😭 DD got to sleep at around midnight, but then there were 3 loud bangs at about 1 - like someone setting off fireworks, which woke her up. Now she's fully awake and can't get to sleep so she's listening to music and making bracelets from beads.... hopefully she'll wear herself out soon

Flowersandhearts · 25/12/2021 02:44

Way too early - poor you! Do you have anyone around who can let you sleep in the day tomorrow?

Youaremypenguin · 25/12/2021 02:48

I've been woken up as well. I've sent back to bed and get crying children 😭🥴😴

Hellokittyninja · 25/12/2021 02:51

Awake here too, second Christmas in a row this has happened. He is too old to believe but is autistic with PDA and won’t go back to sleep. I am very frustrated. FML.

Obsidiansphere · 25/12/2021 02:52

Hey! God Jul! Have a Nordic Christmas where presents are opened at midnight! Rejoice…there is no unacceptable time in traditional Nordic spirit!

Explosivefarts · 25/12/2021 02:54

Just been woken here too. They didn’t go to sleep till midnight and I just finished presents at 130am as I had to carry them all in from garage . I could cry 1 hour sleep and dinner to make for 12 people .

Obsidiansphere · 25/12/2021 02:54

I have asd children and they have opened all their presents…I love my Nordic spirit 🎄🤣

Obsidiansphere · 25/12/2021 02:55

Disclaimer…my mum is Swedish 🎄🤣

Sunnyjac · 25/12/2021 03:01

Solidarity. Mine haven’t been to sleep yet 😢

KloppsTeeth · 25/12/2021 03:02

My eldest has ASD. He used to have a Nordic Yule otherwise he would never have gone to sleep. He is a teen now so isn’t so bothered and opens one gift then the rest in the morning.
Sending fellowship to all SEN parents.

lw26 · 25/12/2021 03:03

I'm shattered. Mine woke at 12 and are still awake Hmm

Chillyjellytotty · 25/12/2021 03:09

I haven’t been to sleep yet, baby dd very upset with trapped wind/teething pain. DS keeps coming in every 30 mins asking when we can open presents…. Going to be a long 24 hours 😅

Obsidiansphere · 25/12/2021 03:10

We place too much emphasis on this as a society…there is no law in the land that says we need to conform to times…

AlistairCamel · 25/12/2021 03:12

Mine woke at 1. Biggest and littlest struggling to get back to sleep. I’m about to lose my patience with the biggest.

Jinglemychristmasbells · 25/12/2021 03:13

Snap my oldest is wide awake she has ASD and ADHD and has struggled to sleep for more than a few hours at a time for years. usually by 4am she will fall asleep. I Can't sleep until she does because she's to impulsive and would get up to no good. Tomorrow will be hubby's turn for the night shift. My 4 year old is fast asleep he also has ASD but he sleeps for longer than dd he went down at 11.30 and will get up at 5 ish. The baby can manage to sleep longer than both the older ones do 5.5hours 😂

We do this too…I am part Nordic, but my mum was conditioned into British ways, but I follow the Nordic traditions and my ASD dcs started opening their presents at around midnight and are calm now…god jul!!!
DancyNancy · 25/12/2021 03:17

Awake here too the past hour. Hoping they go back soon. I'm wide awake myself now.

MrsCremuel · 25/12/2021 03:18

I’m up! 11 week old will not be put down and DH has had to go in the with the toddler to keep him in bed. He’ll be up at 5. I will get 4 hours sleep max.

I am so, so tired I’ve asked my mum for a nap for Christmas.

CountOurDollarsOnTheTrain · 25/12/2021 03:23

Solidarity. My 8 year old boy is awake and upset he can’t sleep. Been awake two hours now. Second terrible night like this this week.
I’m already tired and tomorrow feels like it’s going to be impossible. How can I get him to relax? I need to sleep!! I’m ending up dreading getting through Christmas Day and having enough energy to deal with excited almost 4 year old, hosting in-laws and cooking the Christmas dinner etc. (which I’ve been looking forward to). Sympathy to you all. Any advice appreciated!!

NotaCoolMum · 25/12/2021 03:28

Same here- 14 year old DS (just diagnosed) with ASD. He opened his gifts last night. I hoped it would help him sleep as the anticipation usually keeps him up. He’s still up as now he’s overwhelmed with his new things and doesn’t know where to start 🙈

Fairunibutterfly · 25/12/2021 03:30

I’m awake too because of a sick child. Dd1 has been sick a few times through the night. She’s asleep again now but I’m wide awake 😫
