WIBU to fake a positive Covid test so everybody f***s off?

As the above really. I don't even know if I’m joking or not at this point I’m so irritated.

Both sides of family have invited themselves for hours and hours tomorrow plus dinner (and breakfast, and lunch, with 7 dogs between them…). Plus they’ve come to see the kids tonight to bring Christmas eve boxes and pyjamas etc. I went on an hour and a half dog walk for some space and they were still here. Honestly, nobody is enjoyable company and I really can’t be arsed. MIL is apparently turning up at 7.30 with her drip of a partner to ‘watch the kids open their presents’. She won’t leave til after dark. She did contribute a cheap sticky toffee pudding and a tin of custard though.

The last thing on earth I want to do tomorrow is cook for 16 (fussy & uninvited) people. And they all wonder why I don’t like Christmas. It’s the same every year. Can’t tell them to leave us alone for the day or come for a hour or something as would create so much drama.

We see both sides of the family ALL of the time, for context. They don’t even really like each other….

F*cks sake.

Absolutely do it. I'm not even joking by the way.

gamerchick · 24/12/2021 18:10

DispositionCheeseLatte · 24/12/2021 18:11

Do it!!!
Byeeeee don't let the door hit your ass on the way out... Enjoy your me time!!

RedHelenB · 24/12/2021 18:12

Next year you need to be clear and say no, you are nit hosting Christmas and you will only have visitors at whatever times suit you
Yabu to fake a test now that all the arrangements have been made.

Can't believe you even have to ask - what a bunch of selfish fuckers.

Though come on OP you should just tell them all to sod off without the help of a LFT!
Turning up at 0730 is bloody ridiculous!

DickMabutt73962 · 24/12/2021 18:17

💯 would. I'm breathing a sigh of relief because my mum has an actual cold (staying with brother) and so as not to spread germs she, my dad and I are staying away from SIL's extended family meal. Bro and SIL will still attend, I will have a lovely Christmas Eve relaxing and not making small talk with people o don't know

TheDangerOfIgnorance · 24/12/2021 18:17

Fake it now and alert everyone. Just think of the silence and a stress free day.

Whymustyoubringinthebirds · 24/12/2021 18:17

I hear if you use orange juice or fruit shoot with a lat flow it makes it positive......

HeidiHaus · 24/12/2021 18:18

DC tell me that Coca-Cola on the LFT gives a positive result, according to Tik-Tok anyway.

Just saying

DickMabutt73962 · 24/12/2021 18:18

But no doubt someone will soon jump on and tell you it's no joking matter

AlwaysColdHands · 24/12/2021 18:19

Do it. And share with us the fallout 🤣

billy1966 · 24/12/2021 18:20

Absolutely.

This is deal breaker stuff.

NO MAN would be worth putting up with this for.

Lie to your husband and say you feel unwell and that you have symptoms.

Tell him better safe than sorry.

If ever there was a time to do it, now is it.

They sound awful.

No one would ever be allowed to enter at 7.30am

Where is your husband?

Is he useless?

If he is, suggest you head off and he cook for them.

neverbeenskiing · 24/12/2021 18:22

I wouldn't blame you. But you'll still have the same problem next year. I know it's not easy but could you tell them it's too much and you want at least some time with just your immediate family? It's really not unreasonable to ask that visitors at least let you have Christmas morning to yourselves before they descend on you.

NOELnoelNOELnoel · 24/12/2021 18:22

I genuinely wonder how many people have faked covid to get out of crap plans this Christmas.

ShirleyPhallus · 24/12/2021 18:23

I see so many of these threads. People really need to learn to put their foot down. You’re hosting - you set the rules.

Tell her she is invited from 10am to watch the kids open their presents from her but prior to that you’re doing something as a family. Then say you’ll need them to head off about 6 as you and husband have a quiet evening planned. Then tell her what you want her to bring “we will provide all the food but can you bring 2 puddings and a few bottles of wine”.

Even better, get your husband to do this

Fleetingfoot · 24/12/2021 18:23

This any help?

😂😂😂
WorraLiberty · 24/12/2021 18:24

Oddly enough just to prove to my DH it could be done, I cut a grape in half last week, squeezed a couple of drops onto the test and it came up 'positive'.

Any acidic fruit should do including oranges/lemons.

Brilliant 🤣🤣
PurpleMauve · 24/12/2021 18:30

Lol. I shouldn’t laugh.
Covid or no Covid. I do this most years. We are not hosting anyone outside of our household during the next two weeks and we have politely declined family gatherings at other’s people’s homes.

My excuse - I’m looking forward to a relaxing 1.5 weeks off work, without having to book any AL and I don’t want it ruined by getting sick. See you all in the New Year.

No discussion. End of.

Buzzer3555 · 24/12/2021 18:30

Do it...i wish i had thought of that. Now I've got my crappy in laws to put up with all day tomorrow

Vapeyvapevape · 24/12/2021 18:35

I’d do it Op , fuck em .

FourTeaFallOut · 24/12/2021 18:38

Jesus, op, that sounds dreadful. You wouldn't need to have covid, you could have lots of covid symptoms which could subsequently reveal and negative PCR and then you don't have to lock up for ten days to keep up the pretence.
