Boxing Day is the best day of the year!

Don’t get me wrong - I love Christmas. But Boxing Day is the best day because:

  1. All the Christmas Day stress is over
  2. But it’s still Christmas
  3. And you can just relax, eat nice food and enjoy your presents

YANBU - Boxing Day is where it’s at baby
YABU - stop being such a grinch, there’s nothing better than Christmas Day!

I think Christmas Eve is the best day.

Boxing day always feels a bit flat and boring imo.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 24/12/2021 14:00

I normally work Boxing Day therefore it is rubbish

BrieAndChilli · 24/12/2021 14:01

I like all 3 but for different reasons!

Christmas Eve is all the anticipation, can start opening the ‘Christmas’ snacks and drinks, etc

Christmas Day - presents and seeing the kids faces, Xmas dinner (I love love a roast) and playing games etc

Boxing Day - chill, watch films and eat chocolate and cheese!

Dancetherain · 24/12/2021 14:03

I absolutely agree. All the stress is over and it's just lounging about eating chocolate, reading new books and playing the games santa brought. This year it's the 27th I'm looking forward to as on boxing day ds1 needs to be dropped off at work quite early, then picked up and then we have to go to mils.

Nacknick · 24/12/2021 14:05

Hmmm yes, convincing arguments there @BrieAndChilli

Sorry you have to work @CeeceeBloomingdale

Christmas Eve is way down the list for me I’m afraid @NuffSaidSam

This in spades!!! Today we have had biscoff and chocolate croissant tree for breakfast. And just started on the "beige buffet' the tree still looks great with presents under the tree and the kids aren't arguing about who's present is who's! No stress of cooking, films galore and still in our pj's, although due at Christingle in 2 hours!!
Xanadu58 · 24/12/2021 14:09

I would normally agree with you but I'm working this Boxing day so not the best day for me unfortunately

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 24/12/2021 14:10

I really hate Boxing Day! Always feels like such a let down after Christmas Day. Mind you, could just be the hangover…

ilovesooty · 24/12/2021 14:11

The best day is 27th.

LaurieFairyCake · 24/12/2021 14:18

Christmas Eve is the best day of the year

Very relaxed, lovely film and chocolates to eat - nothing to do but chill and be happy

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 24/12/2021 14:22

Boxing Day is great! Easy cooking because it’s leftovers which usually involves cold meat and therefore mayonnaise. In our house we do Christmas pudding on Boxing Day which is fun as well as nice to eat. And often I see my db and his lovely family on Boxing Day and they happen to be extremely talented present buyers.

MrsLeclerc · 24/12/2021 14:29

I love Christmas Eve Eve (the day before Christmas Eve). It’s normally the day we do our food shop so by 9am all of the food is in, DH has finished work and we’re ready to start Christmas. It feels full of hope and anticipation.

Boxing Day DH usually goes to the football so it’s a quiet day for me and DS but this year (cancelled match) I’m looking forward to having a relaxing family day.

Nacknick · 24/12/2021 14:30

I’m impressed by the Christmas Eve fans - you must be way more organised than I am!

27th is also good @ilovesooty I agree

I love Boxing Day. So much better than Xmas day. I like Christmas Eve too but that's just because of the kids' excitement.

Mypathtriedtokillme · 24/12/2021 14:36

A day of leftovers laying by the pool or going to the beach!

My 7 year old says Boxing Day is the best because your allowed to eat Pavolva for breakfast.

Nacknick · 24/12/2021 14:41

Your 7 year old sounds like my kind of kid @Mypathtriedtokillme 😁

It would be the best day, but…. It’s DH’s birthday.

I cannot fully describe the difficulty of dredging up any celebratory feelings when all I want to do is lie in front of the telly eating cold stuffing balls.

Nacknick · 24/12/2021 14:42

YY to leftovers as well

UpturnedUmbrella · 24/12/2021 14:43

Yes, I always go on a lovely early morning dog walk and it’s the best day! I find Christmas Day and the expectation to be happy and do all the traditional things very stressful- Boxing Day is the one I look forward to most!

Nacknick · 24/12/2021 14:44

I thought the other day when I was pondering however that Boxing Day must be a rubbish day for a birthday - so sympathy to you and your DH @Usernamenotavailabletryanother

Yes no argument from me

Largethighsbadeyes · 24/12/2021 14:45

YANBU but only because that's when I'm with my family.

As a kid Christmas eve was my favourite all the anticipation and the excitement.

Nacknick · 24/12/2021 14:46

Glad to see that i’m not alone in this accordingly to the vote!

I love Christmas but I actually agree with you. I love Boxing Day, kids enjoying the toys. Pressure is off. We always have cheese and potato pie with leftovers and play games. I love it.
