Is EVERTHING 'carefully curated' now?

Seems pretty much every online shop is trying to flog me a carefully curated selection of overpriced something or other.

Or their latest 'edit'

Today I purchased some carefully curated granny pants from M&S (it was from their post menopausal 'edit')

I dislike the "curated ear". Used to be called "some piercings" back in the day Grin

A580Hojas · 18/12/2021 19:21

"Curated" is my most disliked word of the decade. What a load of pretentious bollocks.

Ethelswith · 18/12/2021 19:22

I had to wait until my ultrasound results has been 'curated'

I did think it had give a little bonkers with that one. Not because I don't realise that it needs to be reviewed by the doctors, but rather because they chose such wanky language

JackieWeaverHandforthCouncil · 18/12/2021 19:22

Can’t stand ‘curated’, ‘sourced’ or ‘artisan’. Normally avoid as it just sounds like a fancy word for ‘unnecessarily expensive’ to me.

Is it just me or does "curated ear" sound like a Victorian dish for the very, very poor?

"Curated pigs ear in aspic" ...mmmm

MrsMoastyToasty · 18/12/2021 19:24

"Curated " = poncy overpriced shite made by a wanky hipster with a man bun.

FavouriteMug · 18/12/2021 19:24

It really is pretentious wank isn't it?

They are all appalling. See hand finished and heritage also.

Post-menopausal m and s edit though OP - are you serious???!!??

BobbinThreadbare123 · 18/12/2021 19:51

@Cailleach can't go wrong with a jellied ear Xmas Grin

ToastCrumbsOnAPlate · 18/12/2021 19:53

It's a load of toss isn't it?

BringMeTea · 18/12/2021 19:57

May I toss 'gifted' into the ring of flogging me stuff inanity?

SenseSphere · 18/12/2021 19:59

Hand finished just means someone sellotaped the box shut doesn’t it?

FlamingGoat · 18/12/2021 20:05

Hand tied as opposed to feet tied?
And Hack really annoys me 🤬

BlackberrySky · 18/12/2021 20:08

If anyone tries to sell me something from their carefully sourced edit I think I may have to stab them with a chopstick. From my curated collection obvs.

Fluffymule · 18/12/2021 20:11

'Curated' is the retail version of 'pan-fried'.

BestZebbie · 18/12/2021 20:11

I’m an actual museum curator. Ironically, I hardly ever “curate” things anymore, the emphasis has shifted totally to audience collaboration!

Shock Shock Shock

^ I have carefully curated some faces that accurately depict my shook-eth-ness* at this.

OK, I also hate I am shook and its more annoying cousin, shooketh.

lottiegarbanzo · 18/12/2021 20:14

Sourced, artisan, curated and just so nuanced, darling.

OneOfTheGrundys · 18/12/2021 20:15

It just means ‘chosen’ doesn’t it? Wanky chosen.

TedMullins · 18/12/2021 20:26

Such a load of shitebollocks. I especially hate when small hipster music festivals get a hipster musician to ‘curate’ the line up. So you chose the bands you insufferable wanker?

jaundicedoutlook · 18/12/2021 20:40

Agree it’s very irritating.

In fact it is almost as bad as ‘iconic’

FavouriteMug · 18/12/2021 20:42

No, am taking the piss but it's only a matter of time Wink

DukkaTheHallsWithBoughsOfHolly · 18/12/2021 20:45

It’s as wanky as ‘sourced’.

prettypinkflamingo · 18/12/2021 20:48

I hate the term 'curated'...I see it everywhere at the moment. I also used to work for someone who would say 'utilise' instead of 'use'. Totally used to wind me up being told to "utilise the stapler"!

Abitofalark · 18/12/2021 20:51

What did they say before this annoying 'curated' word got taken up and spread everywhere?
