Hi there. Is it normal… does it happen… that my baby is 9 months but still has no teeth?

OP posts:
SnackSizeRaisin · 17/12/2021 20:44

Yes. Mine got them at 11.5 months. The older they are the less they suffer... apparently...

buzzandwoodyallday · 17/12/2021 20:45

My little boy was around that age when his teeth started coming in. He turned 2 in October and has a mouth full of teeth now. Don't worry op, it's fine. 😬

Bobojangles · 17/12/2021 20:45

My oldest got their 1st tooth at 16 months!! Grin
9 months isn't even particularly late

mrsed1987 · 17/12/2021 20:46

11 months here before the first 2...but had all his teeth by 22 months!

lemondrop21 · 17/12/2021 20:47

My eldest was 13 months! You wouldn't have even known they were coming through, we had no trouble. My baby is 8 months and still no teeth but her big sister now has beautiful teeth so I'm not worried
Apparently it's hereditary

EmmaGrundyForPM · 17/12/2021 20:48

DS1 didn't have a single tooth until he was 13 months. Didn't make a blind bit of difference and was a lot easier to.breastfeed!

Abraxan · 17/12/2021 20:49

Dd was 13 months when she got her first tooth.
She was then about 7.5y before she lost her first tooth.

Abraxan · 17/12/2021 20:50

Should add that even without teeth Dd could eat absolutely anything and everything. Those gums were solid!

Nillynally · 17/12/2021 20:51

Over a year for my LO, took her to the dentist who said not to worry. They all turned up soon after, all at once but it was over and done with at least!

RandomMess · 17/12/2021 20:51

3 of my DC were over a year old as was I.

Wowwellokthen · 17/12/2021 20:52

16 months for my ds....then started losing them again at 5!

SGChome20 · 17/12/2021 20:52

My daughter was over 10months before first tooth broke through. She’s just turned one and still only has 2 bottom and a top one just poked through. She was neither upset nor down when they came through so maybe there is truth in that they suffer less if older

Keeva2017 · 17/12/2021 20:55

16 months and 10 months

SenseSphere · 17/12/2021 20:56

My DD got her first teeth at 4 months. Now 16 months and has them all except for 3. They all came quite quickly, which I gather is unusual.

thistimelastweek · 17/12/2021 20:56

All dentally challenged round here.
Good news, teething seemed less of an issue.

SenseSphere · 17/12/2021 20:57

Sorry missing 4 teeth, not 3.

Kirstyr455 · 17/12/2021 20:58

11 months here. Both bottom teeth came together. 16 months for the top 2.

Landof · 17/12/2021 20:58

I thought you were going to say 18 months or something. 9 months is nothing to worry about, perfectly normal in fact!

Woeismethischristmas · 17/12/2021 21:00

Totally normal. Mines were all nearly a year. Maybe it’s genetic. All around seven when they started losing baby teeth too.

User5329806 · 17/12/2021 21:01

DS got his first at about 10 months but it was a top side one not the two front ones that usually come first

ClosedAuraOpenMind · 17/12/2021 21:04

DD was 17 months. At one point I asked the doctor if she would definitely have teeth Blush
obviously she does now!

lazylockdowner · 17/12/2021 21:04

Normal my oldest got her 1st tooth the day after her first birthday, no issues at all she has beautiful teeth and never had a filing or anything

WalkingOnSonshine · 17/12/2021 21:10

DS could walk before his first tooth came through. He’s 12 months now and still has just the one.

crosbystillsandmash · 17/12/2021 21:12

My ds didn't have any teeth on his 2nd birthday! He couldn't walk either!

He's now 17, 6ft 2, can walk/run very speedily and has a great set of teeth Grin

HopefulProcrastinator · 17/12/2021 21:18

Youngest was almost 2 getting first tooth. Dentist wasn't concerned despite my increasingly concerned questions at each appointment (she attended with DD1 and I to normalise attending dentist)

She has beautiful teeth although we did have to deal with the jealousy of almost all her friends losing multiple baby teeth before she'd even lost one!
