Are you rushing to get your 'hair done' just in case?

As we know the media sensationalises everything...

Apparently , people are rushing to hairdressers , barbers etc just in case there is another lockdown...

Have you or are you planning to do this?

Surely those of us with hair appts at the end of Jan are okay to wait?

I've been meaning to get my hair cut for weeks and it did cross my mind that I'll regret not doing it if I can't in Jan. So I haven't rushed to do so, but I can see why some might.

PickAChew · 16/12/2021 22:27

Made the mistake ofeaving it until January, last year, after an August cut. Got it done in November, this year, so it should be OK until Easter.

OwlinaTree · 16/12/2021 22:28

Well there's no point getting it done for lockdown. Moving your appointment 3 months for the end of a theoretical ockdown would be a better move!

DrierThanANunsNasty · 16/12/2021 22:28

Don’t quite a lot of people rush to get their hair done before Christmas anyway? One of my friends is a hairdresser and this is always her busiest time of year.

Sounds like shoddy journalism to me.

Shmithecat2 · 16/12/2021 22:29

I booked my 'xmas' appointment a couple of months ago, got it done yesterday. If you haven't got an appointment already, I doubt you'll be able to get a rushed last minute one anyway.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 16/12/2021 22:30

I had mine cut yesterday. I always book in my next appointment as I leave, so it wasn’t that I made an emergency call or anything, but I am pleased it’s been done. I went a bit shorter than usual just in case, and also brought my hairdresser a very good Christmas present! (He got me in on the first day after the last lockdown because he is a total star.)

JaceLancs · 16/12/2021 22:30

Not here - I’m booked in because I always try and have my hair done before Xmas or a holiday
If we go into lockdown - it will grow longer and I’ll dye it myself

SimonedeBeauvoirscat · 16/12/2021 22:30

Quite the opposite. I want to get my hair trimmed but I’ve decided not to because cases are getting so crazy high. It’ll wait.

HideousKinky · 16/12/2021 22:31

I had my hair cut today with my regular hairdresser. It seemed quiet for 10 days before Christmas and he told me he'd had lots of cancellations because of covid

ItsSnowJokes · 16/12/2021 22:31

Had my twice yearly cut last weekend so I'm happy!

DoucheCanoe · 16/12/2021 22:32

Mine hasn't been cut since October 2019 Blush

Rocketpants50 · 16/12/2021 22:32

We are too late, our favourite lovely hairdresset has had to close as she has covid. Am gutted for her, she had to isolate last Christmas and missed all her Xmas trade on top of sell the lockdowns. We will rebook for January as we want to support her, our hair can wait.

pinkstripeycat · 16/12/2021 22:33

I’ve not had my hair cut for about 18 months purely because I haven’t got any spare cash after not being entitled to any help as a self employed person during any of the lockdowns. It’s a mess, split ends, fuzzy, grey, awful

ParkheadParadise · 16/12/2021 22:35

Had my hair coloured yesterday. Have another appointment on Christmas Eve for a blow-dry and spray tan/nails.
Also, have an appointment on Hogmanay for a blow-dry and make-up.
I booked my Christmas appointments weeks ago.

Darkpheonix · 16/12/2021 22:35

Mines booked in next week and has been for months

Surely, hairdressers always see a surge in December?

SenseSphere · 16/12/2021 22:44

No rush, had mine done on Monday. I’m covered if the worst comes to worst.

Next on the list - opticians. My glasses are on their last legs.

Treaclepie19 · 16/12/2021 22:47

My appointment is Saturday. Booked when I last went. Actually considered cancelling it because if we have a lockdown it won't matter if my hair is a mess anyway 😅

FedUpFelicia · 16/12/2021 22:48

I have not cut my hair since November? 2019, I'm just letting it grow out and do what it wants to do.

I used to keep it as mid length bob because those was easier and faster to blow dry and get to work. I'm enjoying not having my appearance dictated by corporate necessity Xmas Smile

SunLovingMummy · 16/12/2021 22:49

No, I’m not. BUT if I had acrylic nails or gel Polish, I’d be getting them removed asap. I did that before first down as had been forewarned of potential issues if you can’t get infills and nails lifting.

MousesBack · 16/12/2021 22:50

I wish I'd had mine done a month ago but it feels quite risky to have it cut now (London).

Scarby9 · 16/12/2021 22:50

Persuaded my mum to cancel her Christmas Eve appointment (she has her hair washed and set every fortnight) so we can go away for three nights.
She is already not happy at having to go from 10 Dec - 7 Jan. If hairdressers close, my guilt will multiply!
But we can only go to the holiday let from 23 -26, so just can't wait for a hair appointment.

CrimbleCrumble1 · 16/12/2021 22:51

I had mine cut down today (Christmas cut) and I’m going to grow out my fringe if we go into lockdown again.

SpanielsAreMyLife · 16/12/2021 22:52

I had mine coloured and cut at the end of November.

I won't go back now until wearing masks has stopped again. Thank god I can wear a hat until the spring.

LadyIckenham · 16/12/2021 23:00

Can't, Dd is isolating and they've asked (nicely) if I would mind not going in until afterwards. Had an appointment booked with a different stylist as my usual one was fully booked. Have had several emails saying he's had lots of cancellations so could fit me in.

I may well give in and go grey properly if hairdressers close. Am halfway there already!

2Rebecca · 16/12/2021 23:06

It's only a week until xmas so most women will have sorted out prexmas hair cuts anyway. This is usually the busiest week of the year for hairdressers
