Are you rushing to get your 'hair done' just in case?

As we know the media sensationalises everything...

Apparently , people are rushing to hairdressers , barbers etc just in case there is another lockdown...

Have you or are you planning to do this?

Surely those of us with hair appts at the end of Jan are okay to wait?

I haven't but funnily enough I took my twins for a haircut this afternoon. TBF they haven't had their hair cut since before the first lockdown so it was getting very unruly indeed!

DP's going to be cutting mine again this week. He's actually got rather good at it, as the lack of colouring appointments meant I had to go natural, which meant regular cuts to get the old colour out.

In a perfect world, I'd be getting a professional cut and some cool tones put in to distract from the combination of pure white with the natural gingery brown-red that makes me look rather like this.

But it's not a perfect world. I never booked appointments the week before Christmas, anyhow - if nothing else, hairdressers need income in January and February as much as they do in December.

I will be getting my eyebrows done tomorrow, though. I hate feeling scruffy particularly when I'm already rocking the moulting Arctic Fox look and won't tweeze for fear of the uneven Roger Moore brow look - and my innocent attempt to keep the shape with a dermaplane is never going to be repeated.

My DH cut mine yesterday. I asked him to take a couple of inches off. He cut off a foot of hair, lol. After I got over the shock, I quite like it!
I can't afford the hairdresser any more - my business is dead and buried now.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 16/12/2021 23:26

Not me personally, but I did take DS out to be sheared this afternoon. He's got lots of very thick hair, and looked like Little Donny Osmond after the first lockdown.

HibiscusIsland · 16/12/2021 23:27

I get mine cut every 2 months and dye it myself every 2 months at home. I got it cut in November when it was very quiet so not needed at the moment. Last time my teenage dds cut it for me and it was OK, so I'm not worried

Essemce · 16/12/2021 23:28

Having mine cut Monday but was booked a month ago

TheChosenTwo · 16/12/2021 23:29

@pinkstripeycat have you tried cutting your own? Just a trim mind, not a total restyle Grin
Dd2 decided to cut herself in a long Bob and a bloody fringe during lockdown 1 last year Grin dh and I went to work, she was meant to be doing schoolwork. Came home and thought she was a totally different child! She hadn’t done a half bad job, just watched a few YouTube videos and found some sharp scissors. I mean I wouldn’t try cutting my own hair and certainly not drastically changing styles but is it long enough to try and trim it a bit, to tidy up the ends?
And also, sorry, this whole thing has been a fucking nightmare for so many Sad

TheChosenTwo · 16/12/2021 23:30

Also, the reason I wouldn’t cut my own hair is because it’s pretty long now and easy enough to tie up and out of the way -
Ignorance is bliss!

Sunbeams09 · 16/12/2021 23:33

I won’t be rushing to get mine done - if I’m in lockdown then I suppose it won’t matter what my hair looks like! Though appreciate that’s not the case if someone has shorter hair. Not sure how the journalists would be able to tell the difference between a “pre-lockdown rush” and the normal Xmas rush 🤔

BestZebbie · 16/12/2021 23:39

Not hair, but I did take my DS for an extra swim last weekend because we really missed the pool in lockdown...

Pheebs2021 · 17/12/2021 06:21

I am going to go to mine tomorrow. Considered cancelling it as i am finding it uncomfortable to sit for long periods of time but it's desperate. I am going to go close to my natural colour though so I can avoid it for a bit afterwards.

Coldlight · 17/12/2021 07:18

Opposite here too. Kids desperately need a trim but I don’t fancy dealing with sickness and the 🦃 on the same day so it’ll wait.

This is an excellent idea, and I've just booked to take the kids on Tuesday. 🤞🏻they're still open then!

Waxonwaxoff0 · 17/12/2021 07:28

I'm getting my nails done tomorrow but I was anyway. Might take DS for a haircut this weekend just in case.

RocketPanda · 17/12/2021 07:58

I have no hair but I might paint my nails. That's about the extent of my grooming 😆

gogohm · 17/12/2021 08:00

I sent dp, but it really needed cutting. I'm worrying about my nails. First world problem

GeorgiaGirl52 · 17/12/2021 08:17

Rushing to get my dogs to the groomer. Then, if I can afford it, I will get mine cut.
