What are the things/activities/whatever give you a boost of confident? If we say chocolate makes us happy, what is the equivalent for your confidence? 😊

Praise! (I hate it, and I cringe! but it does help with confidence!!)

Success at work.
Learning something new

Knowledge. When I'm prepared for a meeting, when I feel like I know what I'm talking about, the confidence is there.

And also when I am on time ( usually late for everything!)

MrsPleasant · 12/12/2021 21:41

Irritatingly and oddly, heels. I always walk better, hold myself better and feel generally more confident if I'm going into a meeting I'm dreading if I'm wearing heels. Similarly if I'm having a good hair day.
Bit depressed now that I equate my appearance with my confidence!

Chrysanthemum5 · 12/12/2021 21:41

Clothes - when I feel good and comfortable in what I'm wearing I am able to focus on what I have to do

MrzClaus · 12/12/2021 21:44

On a surface level - smelling really good, having my hair styled and feeling good in my outfit.

Internally - knowing my stuff (e.g at work knowing the background of something), being praised for something, a good nights sleep without anxiety!

Externally - being nice to people. Weirdly I always feel more confident when I'm taking time out to be nice / polite / chatty to people.

Wagamamasforlunch · 12/12/2021 21:46

Getting up early enough to go for a walk or run and do 10 minutes of yoga. Freshly styled hair and mascara.

whyohwhyohwhyohwhywhy · 12/12/2021 21:49

Pressure. Stops me overthinking

Kenwouldmixitup · 12/12/2021 21:49

A well fitting bra.

IE if I am nervous about a presentation, but have a meeting directly before then I just have to get one with it. And if it goes well then that boosts for the next time.

DeepaBeesKit · 12/12/2021 21:50

Experience. I've done my job a long time and I enjoy the feeling I get from being asked a question others would be perceive as being "hard" technically, and knowing the answer quickly and being able to explain it to non experts easily.

Dimondsareforever · 12/12/2021 21:52

Wine …

MrsSkylerWhite · 12/12/2021 21:52

Knowing that I’m capable of doing all sorts of hands on, practical things.
I’m not at all bothered about fashion, ageing, don’t wear make up anymore. If my hair looks nice though, it does make me feel that bit more confident. (I cut it myself, another useful, practical - and cheap Grin - thing I can do.)

Wagamamasforlunch · 12/12/2021 21:54

My absolute peak of confidence was when I came back home after working at a summer camp in America and travelling for a month afterwards. I had been unemployed and quite low before I went, and when I came back I had such a different outlook on things.

Why? what happened on that trip that life you up? Is it being close to nature, with different people or handle hard situation during travel?

Copious amounts of alcohol WineGin

Theywalkamongstus · 12/12/2021 21:58

Being thin. I feel distracted and very unmotivated if I don't feel slim.

LittleDandelionClock · 12/12/2021 22:00

Being slimmer. I feel awful when I put weight on, and sooo much more confident when I lose weight.

LittleDandelionClock · 12/12/2021 22:01

Cross post with @Theywalkamongstus I feel so much more attractive and look better in my clothes when I am slimmer.

MarleneDietrichsSmile · 12/12/2021 22:01

Listening to the right music (anything with proper attitude, pop/rock)

I can really boost my confidence in 5 minutes by listening to Sia, Gwen Stefani or Foo Fighters Grin

Looubylou · 12/12/2021 22:02

Being prepared. Feeling I look OK.

Cam2020 · 12/12/2021 22:03

When my hair looks decent and when I'm closer to my optimal weight. Working out really hard. I loved running, body bump, boxercise and circuits before I got too injured. Also good stress at work - being able to handle a hectic workload and keep lots of plates spinning without anything dropping.

Incidentally, I feel like I'm not accomplishing any of these things at the moment and feel pretty rubbish.

QueefofSheena · 12/12/2021 22:03

Honestly, not giving a fuck. I nearly died three times during (hopefully successful) cancer treatment so now nothing scares me. Every day is a bonus and I don’t have time for other people’s bullshit or opinion of me.
