Would you have a Christmas party next weekend

Christmaspartyornot · 12/12/2021 12:21

Just that. It's about 30 or so friends and neighbours including children for mulled wine mince pies etc.
We planned it, invited people and have lots of RSVPs. We've asked everyone to do LFTs, but are thinking that in the light of Omicron we should probably cancel.

What do you think?
What would you do?

Go ahead with it. We've had life on hold enough.

ShirleyPhallus · 12/12/2021 12:22

I’d host it and I’d attend, but I’d also understand if people didn’t want to come

LFT would be a must

RobinPenguins · 12/12/2021 12:23

I’d do it and would attend if a friend or relative was hosting similar. I know a few of my friends would drop out, which is fair enough but I think most would still go ahead.

PurpleDaisies · 12/12/2021 12:23

A lot could change between now and then. Do you have to make a decision now? Why not see what’s going on mid week and decide.

I probably wouldn’t unless it was outdoors. I’m not convinced the weather is good enough for that.

Freddiefox · 12/12/2021 12:30

Yes

Theremoresefulday · 12/12/2021 12:31

No. Because it would threaten my family Christmas if I had to isolate.

GaolBhoAlba · 12/12/2021 12:31

Party on I say.

A580Hojas · 12/12/2021 12:32

No. I have cancelled 4 Christmas events. I don't want covid.

trumpisagit · 12/12/2021 12:33

We have decided that if we can we will have 2 or 3 smaller parties (with 3 families at each) rather than one big one.
I am aware that by next weekend it might not be an option anyway.

ParkheadParadise · 12/12/2021 12:33

Yes, I would.
We are going to a neighbours house next Friday for drinks.
I'm also going out with my family 10+ people next weekend.

Lou98 · 12/12/2021 12:33

I'd normally say yeah I'd go for it, if it was the rest of December I would have but having it next weekend would mean if someone did catch covid they would be isolating on Christmas Day still so for me it would depend what my Christmas plans were.

I personally see family on Christmas and we have a big day so I wouldn't want to be stuck at home but if you normally stay at home anyway then I would.

I was getting negative LFT's last week even the same day I got my positive PCR so I wouldn't trust that the LF's meant nobody had it

Vivana · 12/12/2021 12:34

Go for it Number 10 does

HangingDitch · 12/12/2021 12:34

I’d attend but appreciate others may take a different view and decide not to.

Spry · 12/12/2021 12:37

I'm shocked by these answers. It's as if the country has no idea what's about to happen. Yes, cancel it.

Yeah, we know we might all be stuck in fucking lockdown again so need to take the opportunity to see friends and family while we still can.

What's about to happen 🤔🤔
MyFavouritePlace · 12/12/2021 12:40

Went to a party last weekend. About 30 people. 5 that I'm aware of tested positive. The room was poorly ventilated. Most attendees double vaxxed and boosted.

That's worrying!!

Do it in the garden. just set it up outside as people will have coats to get to yours anyway .

Megacervixosaurus · 12/12/2021 12:55

We are going to a similar party next weekend, but we (DH, DS and I) are having Christmas Day just the three of us.

If we were having our usual Christmas Day hosting/gathering of 16 people then tbh I’d personally give the party a swerve.

2pinkginsplease · 12/12/2021 12:56

Personally I wouldn’t. I wouldn’t want to jeopardise seeing my mum on Christmas Day. She lives alone.

We are minimising contact out with work and taking extra precautions at work, eg keeping our distance, hand washing, ventilation.

I have a feeling as Scotland will be introducing some restrictions in the coming week as they hinted that things will change.

Wizzbangfizz · 12/12/2021 12:56

Yep
Wouldn't hesitate to go, enjoy!

MrsSkylerWhite · 12/12/2021 12:57

No, because of personal circumstances. That’s us though. It would present very little risk to lots of people.

GabriellaMontez · 12/12/2021 13:01

I wouldn't hesitate. Have fun.
