AIBU wasting money on teacher gift

We have all contributed money to buy teachers vouchers for Christmas , rather than them getting lots individual present (ie best teacher mum, body shop crap). Person who volunteered to go grab the vouchers has spent a third of the money on bloody body shop stuff. So rather than having a lovely £100 voucher each the teachers now have £60 and body shop stuff. I know people will say “well she volunteered” . A few of us volunteered. Literally to go to the shopping centre to get generic voucher which can be used in any shop. Am I (and others) being unreasonable to be annoyed?

I wouldn’t be surprised if it was body shop stuff she already had and thought she’d get money back for. Yanbu but I wouldn’t say anything. Just don’t give her money again.

Just do your own thing next year. Its not working all the hassle. Someone blatantly works for Bodyshop

Good point!! Yes, I would be annoyed. If it was supposed to be for a voucher, she shouldn't spend nearly half on something else without those contributing knowing about it.

Oh my god I didn’t even think that she might be a body shop rep! My boy is only in reception and I don’t really know this mum that well. It’s just so annoying as the WhatsApp thread literally went along the lines of “yes I’m happy to contribute to a voucher from the class so they don’t get 30 smellies gift sets ha ha”.

Literally nobody wants crap from the body shop, even less so when it’s come from somebody scamming their peers.

My money is on her being a MLM hun.

I organise the teachers gift and usually get wine, chocolates, Xmas plant and then a voucher

We always got a card and voucher. But yes she probably sells Body Shop stuff!!

Like all MLMs the Reps can be sneaky to get their sales.

If you organise the collection for vouchers then you jolly well get them. YANBU

I've got a Bodyshop MLM bot at work. She was raffling bags 'full' of bodyshop goodies for £4 each and I stupidly bought one. I got a facemask sachet and a lip balm sample. Yay, £4 well spent eh?

Bodyshop stuff isn't even particularly nice and it's bloody expensive.

I was also going to ask if she was a bodyshop hun. If she is I would be fuming.

I also assumed she was a rep, she's probably taken commission on it

The gift idea was absolutely set in stone from what I'm reading.

Can you say "sorry I'm confused is the bodyshop stuff extra stuff you've bought with your own money as I thought we'd agreed no toiletries etc"
