Coke in Houses of Parliament?

inloveagain2022 · 09/12/2021 11:31

My dh has just been telling me they found traces of cocaine in over 70% of the toilets and that one MP had a drug dealer on his payroll and that another IS a drug dealer. I've just put the news on but it's all about this fine the Tories have just received. I've been avoiding the news for a while.... AIBU to ask if he is winding me up??!

If it’s true it will have been planted

iklboodolphrednosedpaindear · 09/12/2021 11:49

They found cocaine traces in some of the toilets & I doubt it's been planted. The rest sounds like rumour whispers gone nuts.

Ah so innocent.
ComtesseDeSpair · 09/12/2021 11:52

It wouldn’t surprise me. You could say the same about virtually any office building in Canary Wharf or the City. People who get paid enough to afford cocaine as a recreational drug and who spend quite a lot of time in their workplace including after hours networking, often take cocaine in their workplace.

The drug dealing is an as yet unproven allegation.

AbsolutelyFuckinFabulousDarlin · 09/12/2021 11:53

Sadly it doesn't surprise me

Justcallmebebes · 09/12/2021 11:53

This is very old news. Traces of cocaine in the water system and in the toilets was reported on, to my memory, several years ago

daimbarsatemydogsbone · 09/12/2021 11:54

There was this MP with a drug dealing son on her payroll maybe that was one of the things being referred to -

HangingDitch · 09/12/2021 11:55

How many people work in parliament? Thousands I expect.

Cornettoninja · 09/12/2021 11:55

It’s largely true although I don’t know about your 70% figure off the top of my head.

Tbh it would explain a hell of a lot about the guff we see spilling out of Downing Street and parliament.

FreedomFaith · 09/12/2021 11:57

You're surprised at this? Come on, most of them must be on something, you'd be surprised at how many people in your own workplace or your husbands that take drugs.

CounsellorTroi · 09/12/2021 11:57

And it won’t just be MPs using those toilets. There are about 2.5k permanent staff and that doesn’t include MPs staff.

More surprised that it's not been headline news! Or maybe it was and I missed it...

As far as I know she's still an MP and her son still works for her.

1FootInTheRave · 09/12/2021 12:27

Totally unsurprised.

BackInBlackAgain · 09/12/2021 12:31

When the news reported BoJo dressed up like a copper joining in on a drugs raid i did think at the time that he needed to be organising a raid a bit closer to home (house of parliament would be a good start).

Not saying all MPs take drugs, just like some of them didnt fiddle the crap out of the system doing up their houses after claiming they were second homes, or claiming for their moats, or kept on drinking in the HOC bar whilst lockdown was on (until they closed it as it didnt look good!)

Is “posh wankers do coke” REALLY a surprise to you? Confused I thought it was common knowledge.

AtLeastThreeDrinks · 09/12/2021 12:33

Are you really surprised it’s not headline news? Our right-wing media supports the Tory government. They get away with so much shit that isn’t reported, that a labour government would be hung out to dry for.

Have you seen the videos of Michael Gove doing the rounds? He looks drunk/coked up standing in parliament. I’d bet my house of most of them doing it at parties. Most people I know living/working in London have done it at some point. Many are addicted but because it’s a “social” drug it’s somehow seen as acceptable.

It's been reported in the Times, Telegraph and Daily Mail and by Sky News as well as more left-wing newspapers.

I think the Christmas party fiasco has taken some of the spotligh toff this.

From where, the inside of Johnson’s nose? Because a man more clearly on coke I have seldom seen.
housemaus · 09/12/2021 13:01

I'm surprised you're surprised.

Choosing my words carefully - I'm friends with a fair few people who spend time in Westminster for work. This is, at best, an open secret.

But plus sa change - rich City types take coke. Of industries I've worked in (or alongside) where it's widespread, politics is second only to finance.
