The news has been unbearable recently and I’m in desperate need of hearing something good. So tell me your heart warming stories or good news please before I have a complete mental breakdown Grin

My husband is about to be offered a job in the place I've dreamed about living in for 30 years. So, deliriously happy.

BillywigSting · 04/12/2021 11:35

I got offered a job I was very much not expecting to get but really hoped for anyway. It's in the NHS and is better pay and more clinical than my previous role. Also, because NHS recruitment is utterly glacial, I definitely won't have to work over Christmas

DrierThanANunsNasty · 04/12/2021 11:35

Oh @Tempusfudgeit that sounds amazing, congratulations!

I took my daughter to the library this morning after a gap of about 2 years. Paid off our fines, got our cards renewed and she’s happily sitting with a mound of books to plough through over the next few weeks. Will save me a fortune in buying new books!

I have just given birth to my baby girl, we tried for 9 years to have her and had failed ivf and miscarriages and then she was a shock natural pregnancy just days before my 39th birthday. She was worth the wait and all the heartache.

After just shy of 13 years infertility, I am pregnant with my second baby. Almost 18 weeks along with a precious boy.

I'm getting married next autumn and last night my fiancé and I were sat listening to music, trying to pick a song for me to walk into the wedding to and for us to walk as Mr and Mrs back down the aisle.
All of a sudden he started crying and said he couldn't wait for our wedding. He's generally a very hard type of men who definitely doesn't wear his heart on his sleeve

My sister in law is taking our son out for the afternoon tomorrow, I can't remember the last time my husband and I had time together that wasn't sitting at the hospital, can't wait!

Xigris · 04/12/2021 12:39

My lovely friend is pregnant after 8 years of trying and 6 cycles of IVF. She and her husband have seen most of their family and friends have babies and they’ve always been so happy for them and kind to them all. I don’t know how they did it. I’m so so delighted for them Xmas Smile

I met a woman in summer who had been victim of a serious domestic assault. He had done it weeks before too so it was second time he put her in hospital. I spent hours with her trying to get her to support prosecution as she didn't support the first time he did it. She was homeless now too.

A couple of weeks ago I met her again. She looked great, had her own room in a women's safe house and was happy. She had supported prosecution finally and the guy had been sent to prison. It really made me happy to hear the happy ending for her.

My nephew said his first words the other day ("duck, quack, quack"). My daughter is delighted because they were her first words too!

There has been a story on our local Facebook group that has touched many people. A little dog, I don't know breeds, but a cuddly cream coloured curly haired little dog, below knee height, went missing last week.... for six whole days! It was icy and snowy here and the owners were out of their minds. The search involved many people and volunteers, lots of sightings reported but all in different places. And then mid week last week, there was a sighting nearly 15 miles away from where it had gone missing. The owner dashed there with the professionals they had brought in to help. I know nothing about dogs, but apparently in this situation, you can't approach the dog at all, as it will be very distressed and confused, you have to sit and wait and let it find your scent and approach you in its own time. Several hours they sat there in the snow, and eventually, little by little, the dog was brave enough to approach, and once it was sure it really was safe, it jumped into the owner's arms and licked and licked! It's been checked by the vet and apart from being cold and hungry and thirsty it appeared to be fine.

There were a few tears in many many homes locally on seeing the pictures of the little pooch finally curled up in front of the fire at home. It's not a big dog, and had survived in freezing temperatures and snow, for 6 days, and travelled over 15 miles!

This is such a lovely thread. Good idea OP

BeanyBops · 04/12/2021 13:22

After 14 days of both of us with the flu and my daughter in hospital with it, we are finally coming out the other side and today went and picked our Christmas tree! My daughter is nearly 2 and the first thing she said about the tree was that our dog should eat it "Otis.... Eat it". Secondly that the tree is called "mummy" Hmm Finally, she keeps going up to it to smell it, but she hasn't really figured out how to sniff things yet so she's really just going up to it and blowing on it Xmas Smile

Deliaskis · 04/12/2021 13:26

Oh and this is a tiny little thing really, but DD who is 10, is always thought of as 'one of the quiet ones' at school and can be a little overlooked at times, came home from an awards dinner at her riding club with several session champion trophies for the classes she and her pony compete in. I never cared if they compete or how well they did, but to see her shine so, and be congratulated rewarded for her hard work and achievements, it was lovely.

ShinyHatStand · 04/12/2021 13:27

A friend who has been very poorly and in hospital for over 18 months came home this week.

randomchap · 04/12/2021 13:34

My mum's decided to move from over 200 miles away to the same town we live in. It means that the DC will have far more time with their gran, which they'll all love.

DrierThanANunsNasty · 04/12/2021 13:38

I’ve just got back from something I was dreading to see all of these wonderful heart warming stories. I feel very emotional, so much wonderful news. Thank you everyone, keep them coming Smile
