Rum lovers!

Help! After a birthday gift for someone who loves rum. No rum tasting experiences locally unless for a group of ten. After a really nice, unusual bottle of either dark or spiced rum (not what you’d buy as the supermarket) or set with several miniature tasting rums. I don’t like rum myself so clueless. Help!

I prefer with ginger ale as well, fever tree do a nice one.

I like dark rum , I am not so keen on spiced rum ..
My go to ones are
Kraken
Woods
Lambs
But all time fav is Pussers, it's a dark golden rum rather a very dark rum this can be generally only be bought on line or in true Navy towns . Portsmouth is my go to place for it..

Personaly I only ever drink it neat but I know a few that drink it 25 / 75 with stones or crabbies ginger wine not ginger beer or ginger ale
But keep in mind ginger wine is around 12% so as a mixer it packs a punch !

My dad loves Plantation Rum. He tried it when he was on a cruise and now whenever he runs out he asks me for a new bottle. I usually get a photo of an empty bottle and the emoji 😢

Zacapa 23 is an excellent sipping rum and good value. The XO is even better if your budget allows.
Sadlers Peaky Blinders Black rum is a really interesting spiced one.

Loving the thread and so many great suggestions, DHs favourite is Old Monk Indian rum, selected online only I think.
Id not go for a spiced or flavoured unless you know they like those. My faves are golden or dark golden. Flor de Cana , Appletons are reasonable supermarket go tos
