How much electricity do you use?

Crazyhouse123 · 01/12/2021 16:14

Our electricity is around 100 a month. We don't have a tumble dryer. Boiler is combination so runs on gas. Lots of tech but looking this up this shouldn't add up to so much. Got rid of the fish tank when the last ancient fish went to the great pond in the sky so not lighting or heating for this. I work from home but just run a laptop and screen. Lights go off and are all enery

Bah posted too soon.
All energy saving bulbs.
Washing machine gets used about 5 times a week, maybe 6. Kettle just gets boiled with what is needed.
Don't want a smart meter as hear so many bad things about them.
Electric oven used most days but from research not enough to add up to that much.
What am I missing? Thank you.

Fans on in the summer but not at the moment! Medium size chest freezer and small fridge. Ummm. What else?

Like what, just out of interest?

KissedintheDark · 01/12/2021 16:24

My electrical bill is approx £230 a quarter. There's only me and I use the washing machine once a week plus tumble dryer. Everything else I use is similar to you.

ivykaty44 · 01/12/2021 16:24

34 kWh last week
45 kWh the week before
44 kWh 11th - 17th
54 kWh 3rd - 10th
46 kWh 27th - 2nd

I run a tumble drier a bit, a hoover, electric oven, lights and a washing machine

why do you want to know?

KissedintheDark · 01/12/2021 16:26

Forgot to add I don't use the oven just a ninja roasting oven thing and another similar gadget. I do have an industrial microwave though - Buffalo make which counts cooking time from min 20secs

Crazyhouse123 · 01/12/2021 16:27

Ummm I want to know as our electricity bill is so high. 3 bed house. 2 adults 2 teens. Wanted to know how much others are paying for something similar and if there is something I am missing or can cut back on.

Smart meters got a bad press when they came out. I know it's second gen now or something and I may look into it. But in the meantime I am wondering what others are paying.

Our bill is showing 420kWh for a month last month. So just over 100kWh and week.

Bill says 109kwh per month, about £25

NovemberNovemberDarkNights · 01/12/2021 16:30

I live on my own & used approx 2,500 units in the last 12 months. Gas combi for heating & water,

You can get units that plug into your sockets & then you plug the appliance into that, then it tells you how many units or what the cost of running it is.

dementedpixie · 01/12/2021 16:32

ivykaty44 · 01/12/2021 16:35

100kw per week - missed that post sorry

there are only 2 of us in the house

I have two fridges, one is a fridge freezer

no tv

two laptops

the tumble drier is used about 3/4 times per week and the same with the washing machine.

hoover once per week

user oven 3/4 times per week for cooking

out all day 8 hours

SieveBrain · 01/12/2021 16:37

ours is enormous and I'm trying to figure out why (we do have a smart meter)

5 bed house (just moved to it), bad insulation which we are dealing with though the heating is gas. There's 3 adults at home all day, I'm out most of the week at work ( so 4 adults in the evening) plus 1 other adult here sporadically plus 2 under 18s.

Our biggest bucket was home entertainment (Tvs, computers) Hmm

we have a double fridge/freezer plus a chest freezer plus a washing machine and a tumble dryer. Oven used every day as is the washing machine tbh.

We used 542kWh in October.

thats really cheap - what are you paying per unit and what is your daily charge?

WTF475878237NC · 01/12/2021 16:39

Ours is £23 a day at the moment because we are in a very inefficient house with electric heating!

SieveBrain · 01/12/2021 16:39

in order of use ours went

home entertainment
laundry and dishwashing
fridges and freezers
always on
lighting
cooking

ivykaty44 · 01/12/2021 16:42

SieveBrain in order of use?

Justanother123 · 01/12/2021 16:42

Is your bill actual readings or estimated?

MrsBison · 01/12/2021 16:43

My gas+electric is £175/month for a 4 bedroom semi-detached house.

DillonPanthersTexas · 01/12/2021 16:44

1.21 Gigawatts

MrsBison · 01/12/2021 16:44

I guess the electric portion is only around £50

dementedpixie · 01/12/2021 16:46

That doesn't give how much you use in a month though. The direct debit may or may not match your usage
