To ask about heated throws

Do you have one and are they worth it?
Are they easy to use and do they require any maintenance?
Are they easy enough to move around, are there any annoyances with them?
Do they cost a lot to run?
Are there any safety issues?

Thinking that that would be an amazing present for my grandma that sits on the sofa all day but as I've never used one before myself it's a lot of money to spend if they're rubbish.

One of my best buys. Saves me putting the heating on or up.

I love mine, easy to use and the only maintenance is putting the blanket in the machine every now and again. They don’t cost too much to run. Mine switches itself off so safe from that point of view. You’d need to make sure there is socket near the sofa and that the the lead isn’t in a position where it could be a trip hazard.

Watching with interest as I have a MIL in her 80s who sits on the sofa all day and is always cold (despite the heating being on constant!)

Im going to get each of my kids one too.

They are brilliant. I got one a whim in Aldi last year.

My 12 year old used to fight me for it so ended up buying another one.

Mines very portable. And saves putting on the heating all the time.
I use mine on the sofa, when I am wfh and when I go to bed I put it on top of my duvet. It's got a time so switches off otherwise I'd be too hot.

My DM has one from Dunelm, dreamland I think. I have a slightly cheaper one from amazon.

Absolutely love them. Apparently they cost 1p an hour to run, though I've never checked. Mine is lighter weight than the Dreamland one and would be easy to move around, up and down stairs etc.

I think I would sweat to death under one of those

I've had three. The first two, non-branded from Amazon were no good. One stopped working after one use, the other, the control blew and my blanket started melting!

Now I have the Dreamland velvety electric throw from Lakeland and it's great. They also sell at JL, but you get a longer warantee with Lakeland.

My only niggle with any of these throws is that, yes they are great, but nothing beats electric blankets for the bed.

I have a Dreamland heated mattress topper from JL and if I really want to get as warm as I can, I get into bed with this and work there.

But if you just want one for the sofa, then electric throws are your friend.

They are both marvellous and a nightmare. I have Raynaud’s Syndrome, so I bloody love them. I put mine on my bed. DH complains about it all the time. Steals it almost every night though.

I love mine. It costs pennies to run and keeps me so warm on the couch. It doesn't replace an electric blanket, as I have that as well.

I was given an Aldi one as a present three years ago and it's still going strong. I love that it can go in the washing machine too.
I use it on my lap when working from home and sometimes have to take off jumpers because I'm too warm. There are five settings on the one I have so can lower it once your warm enough to maintain heat. Much cheaper than heating the room.

Excellent this is around the price point I was hoping for, thank you. Just use on sofa is the intended use so this sounds perfect. Present for Grandma but tempted for myself also now!

I second Lakeland too. Their returns policy is really good, they promptly pay back money for returns and their instructions for returning goods is clear. They also have a two year guarantee. (I promise I don’t work for them!).

I live under mine in autumn and winter. Bloody love it.

I do like mine but it is a little bit cumbersome. And I still end up doing a hot water bottle for my back!

I've got the Dreamland one, I use it every day for muscle pain (even in a heat wave sadly) for three years and it's never broken. It heats up within a minute and it's bug enough to go right around the legs. It's also great for keeping the heating bill down.

I have one and need to get another- daughter has grabbed it :)

Mine is Cosi Home from Amazon. Has timer snd lots of heat settings

I got DD one last Christmas and am getting both me and dp one this!
Amazon, Beurer brand. Was on BF offer both last year and this.

Snuggled under mine now! I've had it for about 3 years, it was a great buy.
