To ask about heated throws

Do you have one and are they worth it?
Are they easy to use and do they require any maintenance?
Are they easy enough to move around, are there any annoyances with them?
Do they cost a lot to run?
Are there any safety issues?

Thinking that that would be an amazing present for my grandma that sits on the sofa all day but as I've never used one before myself it's a lot of money to spend if they're rubbish.

Any insight welcome and links to any good deals also! Thanks

This thread is quite old now, but if you’ve landed here looking for advice on keeping warm this winter, we’ve recently updated our best heated throw page with loads of toasty, cost-effective blankets Mumsnetters love. We hope it’s helpful.

We've got two of the Lakeland ones and they are lush. I only have them on the lowest setting as I get too hot otherwise

I got a Dreamland Relaxwell velvety teal one from argos yesterday

I have already had multiple naps under it, just to check it works Hmm

Absolutely love it.

Mine is from Aldi, was £29.99 & gets used every day at this time of year.

Gingertam · 30/11/2021 20:22

Wouldn't be without mine. Saves me having the heating on when I'm working from home. So cheap to run too. I seem to have converted friends and family. They all seem to be buying them now.

I have this one and it's an absolute godsend. I'm WFH 80% of the time and my box room / office gets no sunlight so is freezing. I keep this over my knees all day and it saves me putting the heating on even on the coldest day. It has several heat settings and a timer so that I can't forget to turn it off. Would definitely recommend.

I'm snuggled under mine as I type. I use it in the day if I can't get warm and can't justify putting the central heating on for one person!

Me too.

I’ve just bought dreamland ones for both dses for what will possibly be the worlds dullest Christmas presents🤣

One is at university and always complaining of it being cold, the other is going next year so it felt like a good idea but I know it’s a boring gift.

Mylittlecoconuts · 30/11/2021 21:29

I didnt know I wanted one until I read this thread.

TheFoundations · 30/11/2021 21:32

Get one. Get 5. I'm not on commission, I promise, I just love mine!
