To really hate celebrities?

Or perhaps just celebrity culture.

Watching Adele last night and seeing the faces in the crowd made me recoil.

Don’t get me wrong. Adele was great. It was just seeing all the overpaid, often pretentious and mainly hypocritical celebs bolstering one another’s egos in their little clique made me think I’d not care if I ever saw (most) of them again.

So, am I? Am I being unreasonable for taking a collective dislike to these people and their ways?

I’m irritated by the media and how much time they give them. As someone says they have ‘go to’ people that they turn out again and again and it seems to me like it’s a form of social engineering.

We had billy brag in the news last night pontificating how we need to be trans inclusive. He addressed the anti-feminist aspect as it being solely down to the issue of male violence, when it’s about much more than that - especially as the threats and anger directed at women actually comes from the trans community itself.

So he was given a platform whereas the feature itself didn’t go enough into the broader issues as a way of balance. This is dangerous doctrine that is spreading from the celeb culture. They are grouping together, setting the narrative and using their influence to politicise and brainwash.

I am pretty sure celebs are all rushing to jump on the bandwagon politically and to declare their allegiance to leftish activism as they would otherwise be cancelled from the celeb community. Like we have seen from JK etc.

The Adele audience proves this. From Emma Thompson to Stormzy to David Tennant they seemed to me to be the group who are politically vocal and sign up to the same political ideology.

So they sit there with their wealth and status using their influence and even pontificating about being ‘green’ whilst burning up jet fuel and managing to look smug about it at the same time. And we are expected to ‘celebrate’ them.

I am worried about the power the power they have. Celebs are the new leaders and influencers and channels like the bbc and itv are promoting certain ones and cancelling others to fit in with their political ideology.

It’s sinister.

Urgh, An adience with Adull infiltrated Gogglebox last night, where they all fawned over her and the slebs. No doubt heavily edited as at least one goggleboxer must have found it vomit inducing.

I pointed out to dh (who was singing along Hmm) that the slebs weren't there to see Adele. They were there to get their faces on a heavily advertised, widely sold and social media shared primetime TV show.

They literally could have put Sooty up there and the same slebs would have turned up.

I used to work with celebs so probably have a bit of a sense of how normal a lot of them are but the BAFTAs or Oscars or Met Gala I struggle to give a flying fuck about esp during covid. Just all seems a divorced from reality somehow.
