To ask everyone to read posts on the other threads, not just AIBU?

it seems like the only posts that gain any traction or even get any answers seem to be on the main active menu or AIBU.

It just saddens me when people post in other areas get hardly any replies and some get no responses at all 😔

This is obviously why AIBU ends up being used like this!

I tend to scroll through Active. It gets a lot of AIBU but you also get a reasonable amount of other topics popping up.

I look at lots of topics but people don't post regularly enough so I miss responses because they are only posted several days later

Go through 'Unanswered threads' and fill your boots. I have a binge on there every so often. Years ago, there used to be a sort of 'Call to arms' to get them dealt with.

Lots of posters used to hide albu cause it just encouraged vitriolic responses. It's just used for anything now bit of a shame.

There's too many boards though. There's sections that I doubt anyone even ventures into. They could easily condense things a bit.

I only ever look at Active. I wish @MNHQ would give us a list of all recently-started threads.

Its because there are too many forums. MN should collapse all the subforums and just have the overarching forums

You can ask but nobody will. It's all about the traffic you see. lots of posters never venture out of AIBU at all.

YABU. I like AIBU. I don’t want to go through loads of forums of things I’m not that interested/knowledgeable about. I like to have everything in one place.

If Mumsnet feel certain forums aren’t getting enough activity then maybe they should restructure things.

I look at Active, then check my favourite topics most days too. It's not compulsory to be on MN, we're all free to use it how we want...🤔

I think it's fair enough to post a health problem in the General Health topic, and for good replies re education in the relevant topic there. (There's all the sexperts the Sex Topic eagerly waiting to help too). But posters are impatient and want answers NOW so AIBU it is. It's just the norm now.
Also trying to use the YABU/YANBU vote buttons as some sort of unofficial poll which never really works IMO.

I also just look in Active. I rarely venture onto the madder boards, like the Covid one.

Because there are waaaaaaaaaay too many subforums. The structure is terrible, and the headings are fucking unnavigable.

Just merge the lot into a MUCH smaller number AND I'll consider it.

I just read active threads. No idea if they're AIBU/Christmas/whatever.

Thankyou everyone who has replied sensibly, I agree that there are too many sub boards etc but I just hate to see anyone answering their own posts clearly thinking nobody has bothered to reply.

Those who took this as an opportunity to be sarcastic or mean, nobody wants your advice anyway so crack on like you usually do. You do you boo!
