Not an aibu, didn’t want to put it in the title Incase of sensitive stomachs on here.
DS is 4 and has woke up vomiting everywhere, but it absolutely STINKS of rotten egg/poo. Has anyone ever heard of this? I won’t be getting any sleep as he’s fallen back to sleep but I actually woke up to him choking on his vomit (he was already in my bed, luckily). He’s on the spectrum which makes simple bugs a whole lot more hard work bless his little heart, but my guts telling me to get him seen right now (not that there’s anyone awake to take us, but id find a way regardless), whereas my logical head is saying monitor him closely through the night and morning, if he seems the same or worse ring GP and ask for advice? Thank you!!

Call 111 when in doubt.

GrowThroughWhatYouGoThrough · 18/11/2021 03:42

Is he constipated?

Thekormachameleon · 18/11/2021 04:15

If he's vomiting anything that smells of pop he needs to be seen quite urgently

Thekormachameleon · 18/11/2021 04:16

111 will send an ambulance for that. If you can take him to UTC /A&E you'll be saving yourself time

SickCrisis101 · 18/11/2021 04:23

Have woken the poor mother up who is going to get dressed and come over, then going to take him A&E. Blockage hadn't even occurred in my brain!

I once had that.
After I ate some bad tuna! So i had food poisoning
The smell was horrid.

Hope your kid is ok!

BananaRama990 · 18/11/2021 05:11

I'd go to A&E to be on the safe side but I think this can happen with nasty stomach bugs eg norovirus. When I've had noro I had horrible rotten egg burps 😳

SimpsonsXmasBoogie · 18/11/2021 05:19

It's probably ok but there is a small chance it could be something very seriouse so I think you're right to get it checked out. Good luck!

Howmanydays · 18/11/2021 05:20

Norovirus was my first thought. Really strong rotten egg smell.

ThirdElephant · 18/11/2021 05:30

Good luck! Hope all is OK.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 18/11/2021 05:35

i wouldnt have thought ambulance personally.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 18/11/2021 05:36

but perhaps you are on your way there, keep us posted,

MrsLargeEmbodied · 18/11/2021 06:25

what had he eaten op?

dancinfeet · 18/11/2021 07:11

Definitely seek medical help. My DD had this and it was an infection in her intestine, made worse by the fact that the gp said it was just a sickness bug and wouldn’t see her for the first week of it, by the time they finally agreed to see her I had to carry her in (she was 8 at the time) as she was too weak to walk.

EarringsandLipstick · 18/11/2021 07:14

It's worth getting it checked out but an ambulance is completely OTT.
It's extremely common for vomit to stink like this, for many bugs.

If it was faecal matter, you'd be in no doubt, especially visibly & they would be extremely sick.

Nothingfree · 18/11/2021 07:15

Hope all is well with the little guy.

ShaneTheThird · 18/11/2021 07:22

Hope the little guy is ok op

SickCrisis101 · 18/11/2021 11:24

Thank you all. Doctors have put it down to a stomach bug so sent us home and told to keep a close eye on him x

I was going to say norovirus it has an unforgettable stink

logsonlogsoff · 18/11/2021 14:46

ALWAYS ring NHS 111 out of hours if in doubt. They ever take any chances with kids, and send either a paramedic, ambulance out or tell you to come to the A&E or another dept where a paediatrician or GP will be waiting, if it sounds like a non emergency

bigbeatmanifesto · 18/11/2021 14:57

5yo had very similar smelling sick in September and writhing 2 days the whole house was down with Norovirus. Take care and wash everything!
