To ask if you would be pissed off that someone who came to help you in your garden wiped cat shit all over your doormat?

Just that, really.

Family member has been nagging me about our garden. It's not overgrown it's just we don't do much with it beyond keeping it back. They said they'd come and help cut it back before winter proper. Very kind of them.

When we came in they said they'd stood in cat shit (neighbours have loads of cats) oh no! says I, about to go and get the bleach to turn round and find that they are wiping their shoes all over my doormat inside the backdoor of the kitchen.

Yes, I'm a toad for letting a family member 'help' with my garden, I'm sure lots of people will want to tell me that.

But really, wiping cat shit all over your daughter's family member's kitchen doormat? People do this?

better than trailing it all over your floors

This feels like an obvious point to me but thank you for mentioning it in case others feel differently.

Is there a back story of complete disrespect here, bestbefore? Because there is with my family member but if I ever happen to express a feeling of being treated with disrespect it becomes a flashpoint of how they aren't appreciated.

Yes, I'd be furious 🤮

Theunamedcat · 14/11/2021 22:14

I threw away a pair of trainers for dog shit (they were admittedly getting past it) no idea what they fed the dog but the stench was not coming out

WhiteVanWoman91 · 14/11/2021 22:16

Lol

1234comeonbabysayyouloveme · 14/11/2021 22:17

Thanks. I know this family member doesn't think much of me but the blatant grounding into my family home of cat shit is just. What.

We had a roofer in last week. Stood on a ddog poo dh had missed in some leaves. Walked in and rubbed his foot on the inner mat. Noticed after he had gone. He could have gone out via the back way and found some grass ffs!

SirensofTitan · 14/11/2021 22:21

What were you going to do with bleach? Pour it on the shoes? Confused

Yes, it is a complete lack of respect and pretty damn disgusting actually

Dutchesss · 14/11/2021 22:27

YANBU, mats are for mud, not poo. Especially an indoor mat. I hope it wasn't expensive. Treading in poo is a stick / curb / hose job.

If I tread in something in my own garden which I do occasionally as I have a dog and it's usually when i am pegging out the washing, I remove the shoe or slipper and wipe it with kitchen roll and then rub bleach on it and throw a kettle of boiling water over it.

To wipe it on a mat is just.. words fail me

DrGoogleSaysSo · 14/11/2021 23:08

Any sensible person would take the shoes off and clean them outside, e.g. with a garden hose.

Littlechef11 · 14/11/2021 23:22

I'd be telling them to take the mat with them

MrsClatterbuck · 14/11/2021 23:30

You are most definitely not being unreasonable. Who wipes cat shit on an indoor mat. So now a mat along with the shoes now need cleaned. It's absolutely a gross thing to do. You wipe your feet on grass outside and take the offending footwear off and leave it outside and also ask for something to give them a good clean as in some bleach.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 14/11/2021 23:36

It's disgusting, I would expect them to leave their shoes outside. How do they think you are going to clean that off the mat?
