To advise friend she needs to delete her Only fans account?

My friend is thinking of applying to start a Primary PGCE next September, my friend has an onlyfans account which she has told me about before. In conversation with her recently she said she plans to keep her onlyfans during her PGCE year for an income as she will not be working that year so she needs an income of some sort but will delete the account once she qualifies as a Primary school teacher. I've advised her that she needs to delete her onlyfans account before she starts her PGCE and if she needs to work during her PGCE she needs to get another job which doesn't involve sex work.

Was I right in saying this to my friend?

Not sure on the country she's studying in but in Scotland there are very clear standards of professionalism that apply from the second you start studying, OF doesn't align with those standards. There's a whole section about your conduct in your personal life and what you can and cannot be involved in. It was the first thing we were told in our first lecture on the BEd course. It's a very big risk to take should she be found out.

She needs to do it ASAP because she'll be on placement during her PGCE so she'll be expected to meet the professional standards immediately.

Even if it's not pornographic, I think she'll be hard pushed to defend it because all the parents and kids will care about is the fact that it's OnlyFans and not what the content is. If they found out the rumours would be awful.

I knew someone doing their PGCE and had online soft porn of her (this was 20 years ago) found by students. She was escorted off school site and kicked off the course. Of course your friend can’t have this active. In fact, if any of these images have been copied and shared, she could still be at risk with her job for as long as they can be found online. At primary it’s most likely to be the parents that find them too. So she would live in fear of being found out at any time and losing her career. People have been aware for long enough about permanent online presence that I can’t believe she would start an only fans, if her intention was to train as a teacher!

I definitely think she needs to cancel it before she does the PGCE and not do it as long as she is a teacher but I also think it’s massively unfair that people could lose their jobs for EVER having made sexualised content. It would be hugely embarrassing for students to find it in the future but I don’t think anyone should be losing their jobs over it (obv as long it’s all consensual/legal). Teachers have sex too.

I mean I’d probably want to leave my job if pupils found videos of me having sex, it would be unbearable, but the principle of it seems unfair to me, especially if it was something from years ago. I know ‘revenge porn’ has meant women losing their jobs and that seems totally unreasonable to me.
I think your friend needs to take online privacy more seriously though for sure, and actually think about what might happen if it does get found. Maybe she should do some searching to see if she is likely to be found anywhere.

Yes she needs to get rid of that account ASAP and hope to god no one she encounters through the PGCE year, or her future teaching career, ever comes across any of her old photos or videos. I feel ill just thinking about the staff or parents uncovering her OF content.

Depends how big her following on only fans is.

If she only has a couple of hundred subscribers it's extremely unlikely to come up- the world is a big place, the internet is even bigger. Literally hundreds of millions of images of naked women having sex.

If she has a large following, being found out becomes more likely.

Once they’re online, images never go away. They’ll still be around, being recirculated on other sites 10 years from now.
