To advise friend she needs to delete her Only fans account?

My friend is thinking of applying to start a Primary PGCE next September, my friend has an onlyfans account which she has told me about before. In conversation with her recently she said she plans to keep her onlyfans during her PGCE year for an income as she will not be working that year so she needs an income of some sort but will delete the account once she qualifies as a Primary school teacher. I've advised her that she needs to delete her onlyfans account before she starts her PGCE and if she needs to work during her PGCE she needs to get another job which doesn't involve sex work.

Was I right in saying this to my friend?

Do people on here understand how big the internet it?

There are over 1.5 million creators on OnlyFans. Her friend isn't going to have out her name and address and national insurance number on there 🤣

So really, as I said, unless she has a large following (which the majority of creators don't) then these photos are extremely unlikely to be found.

franklynotamused · 10/11/2021 18:40

@TakeYourFinalPosition

You are absolutely correct. She cannot keep an OnlyFans account going whilst working in schools. More than that, if it ever surfaces that she has had one (even years from now) then she will likely be barred from teaching as it would be seen as bringing the profession into disrepute.

Thirding this.

I know someone this happened to! Wasn't even photos though she used to be a stripper in her early 20s got sacked at 40 years old!

Definitely wouldn't risk anything like that! They will eventually find out it's very naive of her to think otherwise

ThinWomansBrain · 10/11/2021 18:44

If she hasn't considered the potential impact on her intended career, she can't be very bright.
Maybe it's better that she doesn't qualify as a teacher.

Yogawankonobi · 10/11/2021 18:48

Years before onlyfans was a thing a woman was asked to leave our course (nursing). She believed that an ex told the university. It was a shame as she would have made a great nurse.

I think if it’s something from her past they may go easier (maybe not though!) on her but not if she’s doing it to support her studies. Can she not see how it may affect her studies?

GrimDamnFanjo · 10/11/2021 18:51

If it was just her with an assumed name and "disguised" she could get away with it providing nothing tracks back to her real life.
The involvement of a third party makes this unlikely.

VladmirsPoutine · 10/11/2021 18:52

@Yogawankonobi You mean her ex told the uni about her only fans account? Or similar?

TerribleCustomerCervix · 10/11/2021 18:54

She is incredibly naive.

I had a friend who did Gone Wild on Reddit- sure as shit, a friend of a friend in our small city recognised her and the photos, which were apparently very graphic, went through our social circle like wildfire.

Friend was luckily able to brazen it out and pretend like she wasn’t bothered, but she knows those images are out there forever.

ThrobbingToothacheOfTheMind · 10/11/2021 18:59

Talk her out of training to be a teacher. Doesn’t sound like she should be teaching children.

That's not how it works. An ex of mine had a friend whose DD went to my cousin's (teacher) school.

I didn't know. So if I told my boyfriend some gossip and he tells his friend...

The world of 'people who know you do porn' can be small and gossipy.

WithANameLikeDaniCalifornia · 10/11/2021 19:00

@CloseYourEyesAndSee

Jeez How does a person get to the point of training to be a teacher without realising it's incompatible with making porn for money???
The mind boggles
LynetteScavo · 10/11/2021 19:01

Of course she needs to deactivate her account! At my DCs school a member of the office staff had a similar account, a parent recognised her and went to the National papers. She was sacked.

WonderfulYou · 10/11/2021 19:01

I’d definitely recommend getting rid of it but I’m not sure it’s your place to say as I would have thought she could work it out herself.

There was a teacher a few years ago who got sacked because she was an ex lingerie model.

DorotheaDiamond · 10/11/2021 19:04

I wonder if she’s doing her pgce at one of the universities that push the “sex work is work” line…if so maybe she should ask them! Be interested to hear their response!

LivingDeadGirlUK · 10/11/2021 19:10

Don't get me wrong, I think people like your friend are idiots and its probably too late for her given her bf is in on it. But people loosing their jobs for stripping 20 years ago? O_o maybe men that go to strip clubs could be treated the same way...

Jobegg · 10/11/2021 19:12

She will already have no control over where the content could have been copied.
I hope to god for her sake there are no faces in these videos.
Otherwise 5 years from now some dad could stumble across her on pornhub and that would be the end of that 😞

MrsTerryPratchett · 10/11/2021 19:12

maybe men that go to strip clubs could be treated the same way...

100%

Jobegg · 10/11/2021 19:14

@Carboncheque

Also, the most likely person to leak images/videos and link them to her name will be the man in them with her.
Agreed!

If they break up acrimoniously, or even just if he just over shares after a few pints, then the wrong ears could hear.

BelleOfTheProvince · 10/11/2021 19:17

A) Obviously yanbu, of course she should delete it.
B) You have to be held to professional standards in teaching, it doesn't sound like this is the career for her if she can't see the problem with a teacher promoting selling your body whilst training.
C) Teaching is a hard profession. Most people leave within five years, so she'll possibly quit before it's found.
D) Of course if not she'll make the Sun and then there's always glamour modelling.

JudgeJ · 10/11/2021 19:17

100%

Presumably only male teachers though, every other profession gets away with it, as do parents!
Mollymalone123 · 10/11/2021 19:19

Not sure she should become a teacher if she can’t work out how incompatible her career choice at the moment is with teaching in the future.It will come out as others have said.

JudgeJ · 10/11/2021 19:21

@LynetteScavo

Of course a parent looking through porn sites is perfectly acceptable! Their poor children, having to live with parents like that. In sacking the member of the office staff I would like to see the name of the person who found the site to also be named.
Gonnagetgoing · 10/11/2021 19:26

A school friend of mine got into webcam, masseuse (with extras) work but a few years ago. A woman she knows found out and had a fall out with school friend’s DD (teen but 18) as their DDs were both friends. This person then splashed the friend‘a name and what she did on her FB page where she also advertised teaching of children and other jobs. According to my friend who messaged me this woman had found sexy images of her and threatened to post these too.

Gonnagetgoing · 10/11/2021 19:28

So yes, deactivate the account and hope and pray that no one else has images or would tell teaching authorities about it.

Divebar2021 · 10/11/2021 19:31

Of course a parent looking through porn sites is perfectly acceptable!

Different professions are held to different standards and although you may judge the parent who views the porn as harshly as the person creating it only one person comes out of that experience with their genitals plastered over the internet.

hyperbyke · 10/11/2021 19:33

@PurBal

I know my music teacher (15 years ago) got suspended and subsequently fired for having a Gaydar account… so I guess you were right.
Being on a dating site is hardly the same as doing porn.
